SaraC Poetry

SaraC Poetry More than "just" my poetry; it's a creative (and hopefully fun) way to navigate the narrow path in life... Hi there! SaraC Poetry is NOT just a poetry site.

I started this SaraC Poetry page because I wanted to take my friendships to a deeper level and encourage us to better walk this journey of life… TOGETHER. We are all so beautifully unique, and yet so insecure, dejected, and divided at times. I want to help us realize how much we DO have in common, and how valuable we are to one another. I’m sensing that we call all use a huge measure of grace (and

maybe a good kick in the butt at times). It’s a creative and (hopefully) fun way to help us to use our gifts and be real with each other. I have written some faith based stuff to share with you; but the most important part is how God's truth connects us and spurs both of us on to authentic growth. Here’s the main deal… I’ll post live, approximately 7 minute long videos every Monday NIGHT, starting at 7:07PM (Eastern Time). Each video will highlight a different poem I’ve written, in a (hopefully) relevant way. Even if you’re not a poetry person, don't consider yourself religious, or are skeptical about the idea, I’m asking you to still give it a try. But really, my vision isn’t complete unless you are willing to be a part of it too. I don’t want this to be one-sided, and as I risk sharing myself with you, I am hoping you’ll consider letting us get to know you better. As we go along, I’ll suggest practical ways you can respond. YES, even you introverted Facebook stalkers who never like things or comment… I’m talking to YOU! Here’s what I’m imagining… I know I have many insightful, gifted friends and you do too. I'm hoping that you'll respond in ALL sorts of creative ways; Youtube links, photos, lyrics, memes, thoughts, art—I can guarantee that we all will get WAY more out of these little videos when we all come together. And to accomplish that, I need YOUR response! If you'd rather "talk" with me privately about something going on in your life, feel free to use the "send message" button. I'll be happy to respond to your comments, questions, and prayer requests that you won't have to make public. If you feel like you have nothing to say about a topic, that’s fine too. We need encourager friends who will like and share what people are posting and give us some love and motivation to open up. Okay, I think that says more than enough for now. If you’re ready to get real about the joy AND the mess, the light AND the dark, then join me in this new adventure. Let’s do this!!! See you on Monday nights at 7:07pm!

Back in 2014 I started publishing my writing because navigating the narrow path in life isn't easy. We are all so beautifully unique, and yet are so insecure, dejected, and divided at times.

Why is that?

God made us to desire Him and to live a life of peace, joy, and purpose. In order to do that, we need to KNOW God, TRUST God, and FOLLOW Him.

SaraCPoetry exists to help all of us consider God in a unique way. It's meant to expose all of the darkness we believe in the LIGHT of God's truth and love. I also hope it encourages you to daily know, trust, and follow Him. God gifted me these words to help us (me included!) continue on the "narrow path" journey.

Please let me know how I can be praying for you, or if you'd lime me to share this (and/or other poems) at your church or live event. I look forward to hearing from you!

Today's question... what does it mean to walk on the "narrow path?"
Hint... check out the Bible verse references at the end of the video.

So Facebook is deleting all live videos that are older than 30 days. Around 2,689 days ago, I shared this poem live. It talks about how selfishness, arrogance, and pride works to shift our focus off of God, and can dangerously distort our worldview, wrongly putting us at the center.

I am not quite sure what to do with my old live videos since they primarily make up this FB page. Thankfully, no matter what happens, they still exist on YouTube and my SaraCPoetry website...

BUT...

I know times have changed a lot these past 8 years and trendy TikTok influencers would cringe at my lame videos (and my crazy bangs!). I'm not sure how much I'll re-share. Please let me know if you have an old favorite SaraC video or poem you'd like to remain on this page. Thanks!

God gifted me with these words about where my focus should really be on Thanksgiving. I hope it encourages you too! Enjoy!

So now that the kids are back in school, I have a few weekday goals…

ONE is to deep clean something every day.
TWO is to write something every day.
THREE is to do something musical every day.

With nothing but the sounds of nature (and the occasional friendly neighbor walking by), I’m loving working at my new table in my new backyard space. It feeds my soul with creativity and beauty, and I’m very thankful to have a few moments to be “Sara” again (instead of just feeling like my identity is solely “Mom”).

What nurtures your creativity?

A year ago, just before everything shut down, I had the honor of presenting an original poem and song at my friend Cory’s album release concert. I was also able to share the thoughts behind the writing of the poem and song... I hope you enjoy listening to it.

THIS is the kind of thing I’d love to do more of. Please let me know if you’d like me to come visit your church, conference, or other group event. I have many more original works and am also willing to craft something to a specific topic.

I’m accompanied by the lovely and talented Dawn Michelle Williams. (Check out her original work on Apple Music, Spotify, or YouTube.)

So many things are frequently changing. It often feels unsettling and overwhelming. But sometimes change brings unexpected beauty, forcing us to see things in a different hue than before.

It’s like we don’t realize we we were ever blind. We don’t realize we were ever bound... until we get our first glimpse of unimaginable, spectacular, dazzling deliverance.

Light up our darkness, Lord. Fill our lives with color. Help us to discern truth and destroy the lies that we’ve let into our lives. Make us okay with being uncomfortable as long as we are led to You. Be our firm foundation, we pray.

“From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” (Psalm 61:2)

“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.” (Matthew 7:24-27)

“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” (Colossians 2:6-7)

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)

“That One Friday”

I think it’s a mistake to rush right to the empty tomb. It’s important to realize just how powerful, destructive, and deceptive evil can be. Satan thought he won that day, and sometimes it feels like he’s winning now.

But we know better...
