Our 3rd quarter Feed My Sheep donations will go to New Beginnings, a transitional living program for men, women, and children who have been impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The New Beginnings campus consists of 7 on-campus homes, where survivors are able to live for up to a year rent and utility cost-free. During their year stay, residents are encouraged to begin their healing journey and develop the independent living skills they need to live a violent-free lifestyle. The campus also consists of an on-site counseling center, and a trauma-focused childcare center,
Residents are each assigned an advocate who works with them in both group and individual settings, supporting them in areas such as the criminal process as they seek justice against their abusers, furthering their education, finding unique career opportunities that allow them to financially support themselves and their children, and finally to obtain permanent housing within the community.
The New Beginnings Childcare Center and counseling center not only serves those within the residential program but also members of the community. The childcare center is the only trauma-focused childcare in the state of New Mexico and thrives on highly trained staff with low child-to-teacher ratio classrooms. A special fact about the center is the Summer program, which allows all children (regardless of income) to attend unique activities within the community at no charge to the parents.
They are requesting school supplies for children in their program and craft supplies for their daycare center. Please bring your donations by this Sunday, Aug. 2nd, and they will be delivered on Monday. They can also use monetary donations, and checks can be payable to Bethany Christian Church with "New Beginnings" in the memo section. Thank you for your generosity!
