WELCOME

CALL TO WORSHIP

SONG “Trust and Obey” UMH 467
When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word
What a glory He sheds on our way

While we do His good will
He abides with us still
And with all who will trust and obey

Trust and obey
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus
But to trust and obey

Not a shadow can rise
Not a cloud in the skies
But His smile quickly drives it away

Not a doubt nor a fear
Not a sigh nor a tear
Can abide while we trust and obey

Trust and obey
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus
But to trust and obey

Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way

What He says we will do
Where He sends we will go
Never fear only trust and obey

Trust and obey
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus
But to trust and obey

PRAYER
Gracious God,
thank you for the beauty, kindness, faith, and care we see in Fairmont through our church, our neighbors, our schools, our caregivers, and our ministries of mercy.
Open our eyes to those carrying heavy burdens: hunger, homelessness, addiction, loneliness, financial stress, mental health struggles, and fear.
Holy Spirit, move in our city.
Bring unity, compassion, opportunity, renewed hope, and a shared vision for serving the least of these. Make Central a faithful witness of your love in Fairmont.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

PASSING of the PEACE

SONG “My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less” UMH 366
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’; blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name

On Christ the solid Rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

His oath His covenant His blood
Support me in the whelming flood
When all around my soul gives way
He then is all my hope and stay

On Christ the solid Rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

When He shall come with trumpet sound
O may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
Faultless to stand before the throne

On Christ the solid Rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand

MESSAGE “To Be a Blessing” Pastor Brad Bennett

SCRIPTURE Genesis 12:1-9
12 Now the LORD said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. 2 I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
4 So Abram went, as the LORD had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. 5 Abram took his wife Sarai and his brother’s son Lot and all the possessions that they had gathered and the persons whom they had acquired in Haran, and they set forth to go to the land of Canaan. When they had come to the land of Canaan, 6 Abram passed through the land to the place at Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. 7 Then the LORD appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built there an altar to the LORD, who had appeared to him. 8 From there he moved on to the hill country on the east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east, and there he built an altar to the LORD and invoked the name of the LORD. 9 And Abram journeyed on by stages toward the Negeb.

PRAYER of CONFESSION
God of fire and wind, we confess we have missed the movement of your Spirit in our lives and in your world. We have not been a Spirit-led church. We have not pursued your anointing or your sanctifying presence. We have not lived in holiness. Forgive us, we pray. Free us from bo***ge to life in the Spirit, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Assurance and Pardon
One: Hear the good news! All who believe in Jesus Christ will have streams of living water flowing from within, streams of refreshing and of power. In Jesus Christ, you are forgiven and empowered.
Many: In Jesus Christ, you are forgiven and empowered.
ALL: Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Amen!

THE GREAT THANKSGIVING for PENTECOST
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts. The pastor may lift hands and keep them raised.
We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.

It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Almighty God, creator of heaven and earth. You formed us in your image and breathed into us the breath of life. When we turned away, and our love failed, your love remained steadfast. You delivered us from captivity, made covenant to be our sovereign God, and spoke to us through your prophets, who looked for that day when justice shall roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream,
when nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
neither shall they learn war anymore.
And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven
we praise your name and join their unending hymn:

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
Holy are you, and blessed is your Son Jesus Christ.
Your Spirit anointed him to preach good news to the poor,
to proclaim release to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, and to announce that the time had come when you would save your people.
He healed the sick, fed the hungry, and ate with sinners.
By the baptism of his suffering, death, and resurrection
you gave birth to your Church, delivered us from slavery to sin and death, and made with us a new covenant by water and the Spirit.
At his ascension you exalted him to sit and reign with you at your right hand.

On the night in which he gave himself up for us, he took bread,
gave thanks to you, broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said: "Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you.
Do this in remembrance of me."

When the supper was over he took the cup, gave thanks to you, gave it to his disciples, and said: "Drink from this, all of you; this is my blood of the new covenant, poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me."

And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ,
we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving
as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ's offering for us,
as we proclaim the mystery of faith.

Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.

Pour out your Holy Spirit on us gathered here,
and on these gifts of bread and wine.
Make them be for us the body and blood of Christ,
that we may be for the world the body of Christ, redeemed by his blood. By your Spirit make us one with Christ, one with each other, and one in ministry to all the world, until Christ comes in final victory, and we feast at his heavenly banquet. Through your Son Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in your holy Church, all honor and glory is yours, almighty God, now and for ever.
Amen.

SONG “Have Thine Own Way, Lord” UMH 449
Have thine own way, Lord
Have thine own way
Thou art the Potter
I am the clay

Mold me and make me
After thy will
While I am waiting
Yielded and still

Have thine own way, Lord
Have thine own way
Search me and try me
Master today
Whiter than snow Lord, wash me just now
As in Thy presence humbly I bow

We Will Leave the Light On
We are launching a campaign centered on Light as a symbol of hope. We’re keeping a light on at church as a visible reminder that no one is alone. We’re also inviting our community to keep their heart light on—and to show it by leaving their porch light on too. It’s a simple way to say: we see you, you matter, you’re welcome here, and hope is still shining. The light will change to indicate the cause for prayer. During the month of June we will change the light to GREEN as we pray for spiritual growth, children, families and renewed life in our churches and community. We invite you to turn on your porch light and let your light shine!

2026 Annual Conference Offering – “Rooted In Love”:
This year’s West Virginia Annual Conference Offering supports two important ministries rooted in God’s love. Gifts will help strengthen theological education for clergy in Africa, Europe and the Philippines while also supporting camp scholarships at Sprong Heights Camp and Retreat Center, where young people grow in faith and discipleship. Together, these ministries nurture leaders locally and globally as we share the love of Christ. Please prayerfully consider contributing to this special offering before or during Annual Conference season.

Special Offering:
Our churches will be collecting a special offering on the first Sunday in June to be given at our Annual Church Conference. Please prayerfully consider supporting this ministry.

Church on the Green
You are invited to join Church on the Green, sponsored by Gateway UMC, this summer in downtown Fairmont. Each gathering will include food, music, fellowship, and a message of God’s love.

CALL TO WORSHIP

SONG “How Great Thou Art” UMH 328
O Lord my God
When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds
Thy hands have made

I see the stars
I hear the rolling thunder
Thy pow'r thru'out
The universe displayed

Then sings my soul
My Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art

Then sings my soul
My Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art

And when I think
That God His Son not sparing
Sent Him to die
I scarce can take it in

That on the cross
My burden gladly bearing
He bled and died
To take away my sin

Then sings my soul
My Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art

Then sings my soul
My Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art

When Christ shall come
With shout of acclamation
And take me home
What joy shall fill my heart

Then I shall bow
In humble adoration
And there proclaim
My God how great Thou art

Then sings my soul
My Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art

Then sings my soul
My Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art

SONG “What a Beautiful Name”
You were the Word at the beginning
One with God the Lord Most High
Your hidden glory in creation
Now revealed in You our Christ

What a beautiful Name it is
What a beautiful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ my King

What a beautiful Name it is
Nothing compares to this
What a beautiful Name it is
The Name of Jesus

You didn’t want heaven without us
So Jesus You brought heaven down
My sin was great Your love was greater

What could separate us now
What a wonderful Name it is
What a wonderful Name it is

The Name of Jesus Christ my King
What a wonderful Name it is
Nothing compares to this
What a wonderful Name it is
The Name of Jesus

What a wonderful Name it is
The Name of Jesus

Death could not hold You
The veil tore before You
You silence the boast of sin and grave

The heavens are roaring
The praise of Your glory

For You are raised to life again

You have no rival
You have no equal
Now and forever God You reign

Yours is the kingdom
Yours is the glory
Yours is the Name above all names

What a powerful Name it is
What a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ my King

What a powerful Name it is
Nothing can stand against

What a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus
What a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus

What a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus

You have no rival
You have no equal
Now and forever God You reign

Yours is the kingdom
Yours is the glory
Yours is the Name above all names

What a powerful Name it is
What a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ my King
What a powerful Name it is

MESSAGE “Spirit in Partnership” Pastor Brad Bennett

SCRIPTURE: Genesis 1:1 – 2:4a
1 When God began to create the heavens and the earth, 2 the earth was complete chaos, and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters. 3 Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good, and God separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.
6 And God said, “Let there be a dome in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” 7 So God made the dome and separated the waters that were under the dome from the waters that were above the dome. And it was so. 8 God called the dome Sky. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.
9 And God said, “Let the waters under the sky be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so. 10 God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good. 11 Then God said, “Let the earth put forth vegetation: plants yielding seed and fruit trees of every kind on earth that bear fruit with the seed in it.” And it was so. 12 The earth brought forth vegetation: plants yielding seed of every kind and trees of every kind bearing fruit with the seed in it. And God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening and there was morning, the third day.
14 And God said, “Let there be lights in the dome of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the dome of the sky to give light upon the earth.” And it was so. 16 God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars. 17 God set them in the dome of the sky to give light upon the earth, 18 to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day.
20 And God said, “Let the waters bring forth swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the dome of the sky.” 21 So God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, of every kind, with which the waters swarm and every winged bird of every kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” 23 And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day.
24 And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures of every kind: cattle and creeping things and wild animals of the earth of every kind.” And it was so. 25 God made the wild animals of the earth of every kind and the cattle of every kind and everything that creeps upon the ground of every kind. And God saw that it was good.
26 Then God said, “Let us make humans in our image, according to our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over the cattle and over all the wild animals of the earth[d] and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.”
27 So God created humans in his image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
28 God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.” 29 God said, “See, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is upon the face of all the earth and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food. 30 And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the air and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so. 31 God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
2 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished and all their multitude. 2 On the sixth day God finished the work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all the work that he had done. 3 So God blessed the seventh day and hallowed it, because on it God rested from all the work that he had done in creation.
4 These are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created.

SCRIPTURE: Matthew 28:16-20
16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him, but they doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit 20 and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

SONG “This Is My Father’s World” UMH 144
This is my Father's world
And to my list'ning ears
All nature sings and 'round me rings
Music of the spheres

This is my Father's world
I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees of skies and seas
His hand the wonders wrought

This is my Father's world
The birds their carols raise
The morning light the lily white
Declare their Maker's praise

This is my Father's world
He shines in all that's fair
In the rust'ling grass I hear Him pass
He speaks to me ev'rywhere

This is my Father's world
O let me ne'er forget
And though the wrong seems oft so strong
God is the Ruler yet

This is my Father's world
Why should my heart be sad
The Lord is King let the heavens ring
God reigns let the earth be glad

The Lord is King let the heavens ring
God reigns let the earth be glad

First Sunday Pastries:
Make sure to visit the “Central Perks” coffee bar by the gym to have some coffee and pastry before church. The coffee bar is available before each Sunday service but the first Sunday of the month offers various pastries to enjoy.

Meets at Trinity UMC on Sundays at 11:00am.

May’s Mission Tree Thanks to everyone that donated towels, washcloths, etc during May for our shower room.
Our mission tree project for June is VBS.
Instead of having a snack during VBS time each evening, we will be sending a snack home with each child. During June, please bring snack crackers, snack cookies/cakes, snack chips, gummy items, juice boxes, etc. Thank you for helping share God’s love to the children that will be attending VBS.

Looking Ahead –
Father’s Day Brunch – Sunday, June 21st following worship

We Will Leave the Light On
We are launching a campaign centered on Light as a symbol of hope. We’re keeping a light on at church as a visible reminder that no one is alone. We’re also inviting our community to keep their heart light on—and to show it by leaving their porch light on too. It’s a simple way to say: we see you, you matter, you’re welcome here, and hope is still shining. The light will change to indicate the cause for prayer. This month we highlight the color RED as we prayer for fire fighters and those affected by heart disease. We invite you to turn on your porch light and let your light shine!

Vacation Bible School at Central –
Making a Christian Community - examples in Joseph's Life is the theme of this year's Vacation Bible School! This year's Vacation Bible School is on the books for July 13th-17th for all ages! End of VBS picnic and pool party that Sunday, July 19th! Exciting things are in the works and more details will follow! We need volunteers to help.

Church on the Green
You are invited to join Church on the Green, sponsored by Gateway UMC, this summer in downtown Fairmont. Each gathering will include food, music, fellowship, and a message of God’s love.
Church on the Green will be held in the green space beside Huntington National Bank on Adams Street from 5:00–7:00 p.m. on June 17, July 15, and August 12.
Come worship with our neighbors and support this wonderful community outreach!
