This next Sunday, 11/30/25, is the 1st Sunday of Advent and the 1st Sunday of the liturgical calendar Year A. It is also the 1st Sunday at St Michael that focuses on morning prayer without a sermon. Instead, we will begin upstairs in the sanctuary on page 75 of the Book of Common Prayer with Rite 2 of Morning Prayer.

Just before starting to read the lessons of the day, we will light the 1st Advent candle.

We will then move downstairs for a breakfast of casseroles, muffins, and a fruit plate. Volunteers have already come forward to provide this feast. As we are eating we will be reading the lessons to ourselves, and perhaps even have read them before showing up this Sunday morning. We will quickly decide which lesson we want to discuss, and then proceed to slice and dice the chosen lesson. We should all show up with what we call a "beginners mind", few preconceptions and open to others' ideas.

Here are the lessons to choose from:

Isaiah 2:1-5
Psalm 122:1-9
Romans 13:11-14
Matthew 24:36-44

Our 10:30 service always begins at 10:35, because, you know....

All are welcome.

Be safe and God bless.
