Holy Week begins today, marking a journey to the cross and ultimately the empty tomb.

While Jesus' triumphal entry began with him riding into Jerusalem on a donkey, the crowds expected a different type of King. The crowd's expectations placed on Jesus are often misguided or at least shrouded with its own hopes of what he would do on their behalf. Would the coming King bring justice against adversaries? Would he give his approval to its every hope? Would the King bring violence and vengeance against enemies?

Would this Holy Week be a reminder to us all that Jesus came on a donkey, not a war horse, to announce the kingdom of God and invite all people to join him there, in a Kingdom of peace, enemy love, self-sacrifice, and reconciliation to the Creator God.

Mark your calendars! Good Friday service is Friday at 6:00pm followed by two Easter Sunday services at 9:00am and 10:45am. See you there!

In John, we’re told Jesus made the spirit of service part of the story on Maundy Thursday. It should be part of ours too because, “If we’re doing the bread and the wine without the towel and the basin, we’re just doing religious symbols.”

If you weren’t able to catch the sermon on Sunday, it’s now up on our Youtube and Spotify!
