Lanie Baer was announced as the winner of the Patriotic quilt made by our W-ELCA quilters. Some questioned the fairness of the draw, noting Lanie Baer's absence from church on June 14, but Hayden McAfee randomly selected the winner. However, a review confirmed that Lanie Baer had indeed bought five tickets and the selection process was conducted fairly. 👍

Bishop Felix, God’s blessings to you & your family! Safe travels as you go on your way on your summer sabbatical!

Dear Synod,

Thank you so much for an amazing Synod Assembly, worship at the park, and blessing for my sabbatical. I feel full as I take the summer to rest, connect with family, and discern. I will return to the synod September 9th.

As I go, I know that I leave in the very capable hands of my staff. Rev. Dione Stepanek will be Acting Bishop and Maureen Starmack, our synod VP, is an amazing partner in leadership, so I feel confident your needs will be met.

A personal message from Pr. Sharilyn:
The Southern Baptist Conference voted on Wednesday to enact strict bans and restrictions on women serving in ministry in their churches. Would you please keep the women who are serving in various ways within the Southern Baptist denomination in your prayers? This is a challenging time for this denomination and for the women who wish to serve. Thank you.

Thousands of Southern Baptists have voted overwhelmingly to advance a formal ban on churches with women pastors in the nation’s largest conservative evangelical denomination.
