Does God have a plan for your life?
If God has a plan for your life, are you following it?
At the heart of a Christian’s spiritual faith is their relationship with God. How do we build a relationship? Relationships are formed through conversation, spending time together. If you accept the simple premises I just laid out, it means that the very heart of our relationship with our Lord is spending time in prayer. That means regularly and often, taking thanksgivings and praise, lifting up requests and listening for God to speak in our hearts.
One basic step of listening for God is in spending time with the scriptures: reading, planting God’s Word in your heart, praying over verses and passages.
My reason for beginning a prayer ministry and encouraging you in prayer is to support and build the spiritual health and vitality of our congregation.
On that kind of a solid foundation we can build outreach to share with others from what we have. I believe that God has a plan for our church.
Reaching out for and achieving that plan begins in prayer. Put very simply, it begins with your prayers: personal prayers, prayers for others around you, prayers for me to lead and inspire and support our ministry, prayers for each aspect of our communal worship, the music, the fellowship. We need to wrap all these things in our daily prayers.
Think about a thin tissue paper, like a roll of toilet paper. If you wrap it around one time, one layer, it is very fragile, there is no strength to support or hold. But if you keep wrapping, keep adding layer after layer, a strength is built and with enough wrapping it strengthens beyond our ability to break it. That is the kind of prayer that we need.
Will you wrap the work of God in this place with your prayers?
