Please pray that our church family would faithfully carry Christ’s light in our community and that His life would be seen among us as He walks with His people.

Here’s the big picture: from Eden to the end, God has always wanted to dwell with His people as their light and life.

In Eden the Tree of Life stood at the center. God’s life was accessible and present.

When Eden was lost God gave Israel the menorah, a golden flowering lampstand in the Tabernacle, and later, the Temple. It was not the Tree of Life itself but a golden echo of Eden, light and life in the place where God dwelt with His people.

In Revelation John sees not one lampstand but seven, the seven churches. The light that once burned in one sanctuary now burns in communities scattered across the world.

And the arc completes. Revelation ends with the Tree of Life restored. No temple is needed. God and His people dwelling together fully and forever.

From Eden to the end God’s story is this: He gives His life to His people and He calls His people to carry His light until the day He dwells with us fully and forever.

Life has a way of going 𝘖𝘧𝘧-𝘚𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘱𝘵.

Our best-laid plans unravel. The stories we thought we were living take unexpected turns. In 2 Kings 3, a strange and unsettling Bible story shows us a God who isn’t trapped or rattled by our scripts.

God works through unworthy people, fulfills His word in unexpected ways, and remains sovereign even when the ending looks confusing. And as water and blood flow through this Bible story, they ultimately point us to Christ—where water and blood mingle as they flow from His pierced side, and the cross becomes either rescue or judgment depending on how it’s received.

Jesus entered our broken story, bore our judgment, and rose when death itself seemed to have written the final script.

50…3…2…1: When the Spirit Moves Forward (2 Kings 2:1–18)

The number 50 keeps popping up around Elijah and Elisha. It is not a secret code, but the repeated pattern still communicates something worth noticing. It forms part of a countdown.

3 companies of fifty soldiers sent to Elijah.
2 companies of fifty prophets hidden in caves.
1 company of fifty prophets standing at a distance.

Some come with a display of force and arrogance. Some are hidden and preserved by God’s Spirit. Some watch from a distance and struggle to recognize where the Spirit is moving.

All of it points us ahead to Jesus, who pours out His Spirit so His people can move forward in His mission.

What does this have to say to us today? Are we content to watch from a distance, or are we ready to move humbly with the Spirit?

Join us as we return one last time to Elijah and Elisha, and to a repeated number that keeps popping up in surprising places. It is not a secret code, but it does stand out.

3 companies of 50 sent to Elijah. 2 companies of 50 hidden in caves. 1 company of 50 standing at a distance.

What does this have to say to us today? Are we content to watch from a distance, or are we ready to move humbly with the Spirit?

In 2 Kings 2:19–25, Elisha’s prophetic ministry begins with two unforgettable scenes.

First, the men of Jericho bring a desperate problem to him: the city is pleasant, but the water is bad and the land is unfruitful. Elisha throws salt into the spring and declares the word of the LORD: “I have healed this water.” The power is not in the salt, but in the word of God.

Then Elisha goes up toward Bethel, where a group of boys come out mocking him: “Go up, baldhead!” Their words are not merely a joke about his appearance. They are a rejection of the prophet and of the God who sent him. Two bears come out of the woods and maul forty-two of them.

Strange as it may sound, these two stories belong together. Elisha’s name means “God saves,” while Shaphat, his father’s name, means “He judges.” The God who heals Jericho’s water is also the God who judges our contempt. The LORD saves, and the LORD judges.

But Jesus is the better and final Elisha. At the cross, God’s salvation and judgment meet. The curse falls, not on us, but on Christ, so that cursed people may be healed, restored, and made clean.
