Sunday Recap — Life in the Fast Lane #2: Vision
This week's message hit on something a lot of us feel but don't always name: we're busy, but are we actually going anywhere?
Here's the heart of it
1. Vision gives you direction
When you don't know where you're going, every road looks like a possibility. But when you know the destination, you can stay on course. Without vision, we're easily swayed by whatever life throws at us. (Proverbs 29:18)
2. Vision helps you know what matters most
Once you know where you're going, you can figure out what belongs in your life and what doesn't. Not every open door is one you're supposed to walk through. Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can say is no, because you already know what your yes is committed to. (Philippians 3:13-14, Matthew 6:33)
3. Vision makes your life bigger than yourself
We weren't saved just to sit, gifted just to consume, or given a lifetime just to exist. God's vision for your life isn't only about what you accomplish. It's about what He wants to accomplish through you. (Ephesians 2:10, 1 Corinthians 12:27)
Here's the picture that stuck with us. Your GPS can tell you where you are, what road you're on, how fast you're going. But it can't tell you where you're going until you give it a destination.
You can be busy. You can be productive. You can fill your calendar. But without direction, that's just movement, not progress.
Don't let the stuff of life determine the direction of your life.
