Ever felt like doors are closing all around you? Lost a job opportunity, a relationship, or a dream that seemed just within reach?

The church in Philadelphia knew that feeling. They were shut out of the synagogue, marginalized, and had "little strength." Yet Jesus had no rebuke for them—only encouragement. Why? Because when human doors close, Christ holds the key that truly matters.

"I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door which no one is able to shut." (Revelation 3:8) Jesus reminds us that our access to God doesn't depend on human approval, our own strength, or earthly circumstances. He is the Holy One, the True One, who opens what no one can shut and shuts what no one can open.

Your weakness is the perfect place for His strength to shine. When you feel excluded or insufficient, remember: Christ has already opened the door to the Father through His death and resurrection. No one can close what He has opened for you.

The mission didn’t end with the book of Acts.

Jesus is still building His church.
The Holy Spirit is still empowering His people.
And there are still millions who have never heard the gospel.

God’s mission is still moving forward, and He invites His people to be part of it.

➡️ What is your next step?

This week, Todd Reinschmidt from Florida FCA, reminded us that the mission of Acts 1:8 is still alive today. Jesus is still building His church, and there are still people—right here in Englewood and North Port and Venice, and around the world—who don’t know Him. Let’s risk it all for His glory!

You don’t receive Him after you’ve cleaned up your life, memorized enough Scripture, or achieved perfect church attendance.

The Bible’s order is clear:
📖 Hear the Gospel.
✝️ Believe in Jesus Christ.
🔥 Receive the Holy Spirit.

God doesn’t wait for you to become worthy. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. And when we trust in Him, He seals us with His promised Spirit.

Salvation isn’t based on your performance. It’s based on Christ’s finished work.

This week, Todd Reinschmidt from Florida FCA reminded us that every believer has received the Holy Spirit and is called to be a witness. To listen to the sermon from Sunday, follow the link in our bio.

Join us this Sunday at Risen King Bible Church!

This week, Pastor Doug will continue our study through Revelation with a message from Revelation 3:7-13, Christ's Message to a Favored Church: To the Church in Philadelphia. In this passage, we will see Christ's encouragement to a faithful church, His sovereign authority over every door He opens and closes, and the promises He gives to those who persevere in faith.

As the first Sunday of the month, we will also participate in the Lord's Supper to remember Christ's sacrifice and proclaim His death until He comes.

Songs for Sunday:
• He Will Hold Me Fast – Keith & Kristyn Getty
• Blessed Assurance (Oh What A Savior) – Elevation Worship
• O Church Arise – Keith & Kristyn Getty
• I Believe – Phil Wickham
• Be Thou My Vision – Audrey Assad
• Jesus Is Mine – Jordan Kauflin

You can find a YouTube link for each song below. We encourage you to spend some time becoming familiar with these songs so that, when Sunday comes, you can worship freely and with your attention fixed on Christ.

Following the service, we invite everyone to stay for our monthly Family Meal. It's a wonderful opportunity to enjoy fellowship, encourage one another, and continue our time together as a church family.

We would love for you to worship with us! We hope you'll join us!

The mission of the Church has never been either local or global. It’s both.

Jesus calls His people to be His witnesses where they are and wherever He sends them.

🏠 In our neighborhoods.
🌎 To the ends of the earth.

This is the heartbeat of the Church. This is the heartbeat of missions.

Guest Speaker Todd Reinschimidt from .fl.international led us to explore Acts 1:8 and the heart of God’s mission for His church—both locally and globally. To listen to the sermon from Sunday, follow the link in our bio.

Are you living in your own strength or relying on the power of the Holy Spirit? This week's message, Todd Reinschmidt of Florida FCA, challenged us with Acts 1:8 - Jesus didn't just give us a mission, He gave us the POWER to accomplish it.

The truth is sobering: apart from Christ, we can do nothing. Yet too often we try to carry out God's mission through our own talent, effort, and strategy instead of abiding in Him like branches connected to the vine. The early church didn't go forward until they received the Holy Spirit - neither should we.

Here's the beautiful part: God's mission isn't just local OR global - it's both. You will be His witnesses in your Jerusalem (right where you are), your Judea (your region), your Samaria (the people you'd rather avoid), and to the ends of the earth. Every believer has a role - some go, some send, some pray, but no one is exempt from caring about what God cares about: EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE.

What's your next step in God's mission?

Join us this Sunday at Risen King Bible Church as we gather to worship Christ, hear His Word preached, and be reminded of the mission He has given His Church.

This Sunday, Todd Reinschmidt will be preaching from Acts 1:1–8 and Matthew 28:19–20, passages that call us to behold Christ’s authority, depend on His power, and faithfully go as His witnesses into the world.

As part of this 5th Sunday gathering, Todd will also briefly share an update from Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Florida FCA, where he serves as Regional Director across Sarasota, Charlotte, and Manatee Counties, giving us an opportunity to hear how God is at work locally and how we can pray and partner with FCA.

We’ll sing the following songs together:

• O Praise the Name (Anástasis) - Hillsong
• Let Your Kingdom Come - Sovereign Grace Music
• Our God Saves - Paul Baloche
• Facing a Task Unfinished - Keith and Kristyn Getty
• By Faith - Keith and Kristyn Getty

Feel free to use the YouTube links below to familiarize yourself with this Sunday’s songs as we prepare to worship together.

We would love to have you join us this Sunday.

Remember the grace that first brought you to repentance.
Hold fast to the gospel you have received.

Do not let compromise slowly pull your heart away from Christ.
The Word of God exposes our sin, calls us to repent, and renews our fellowship with Him. Revelation 3 reminds us that spiritual life is not sustained by yesterday’s faithfulness, but by continually clinging to Christ today.

Spiritual drift rarely happens all at once.
It happens slowly… when prayer becomes inconsistent, sin goes unconfessed, and the wonder of the gospel starts to feel familiar.

But Jesus calls His church to remember what we have received and heard. To wake up. To return. To let the Word of Christ dwell in us richly again.

Don’t settle for going through the motions when Christ offers Himself to you.
