This is a long post but much needed.
Pastors, the Biblical duties of the 5-Fold Ministry is as much different as they are alike.
When an Apostle is called dont expect the kind of service (jumping, shouting, and running around the church) that's what the praise team and the Evangelist is for. The Apostle comes to help. You can tell him/her what area you need help in. It's OK. Then they can address that area.
And dont expect the Teacher to do what the Evangelist does.
@ If you invite a Bible teacher, be prepared to sit with pen in hand. Be prepared for a lot of scripture references and a lot of Hebrew and Greek numbers and words, and plain application of the word.
A Pastor will usually center his or her messenger around something that has to do with Shepherd and sheep. Listening, obedience, the responsibility of a shepherd, etc.
And the prophet may not sing a song, or give accolades. Although he/she will give honor to the shepherd(s) of the house. The prophet may not mention houses, cars, jobs for you, and money. But they will tell you what God is/has said . You see, Prophets are not interested in who i am. Their interest is in keeping the Body of Christ abreast of the times in which they live and what to expect "next."
The church has caused the 5-Fold Ministry to all perform the same way and say the same thing. We do it because it is expected.
Please allow us to exercise our God given gifts and help the Body. The Body has running sores that are releasing pulse. False teachers and false preachers would be less instead of more
because they wouldn't come to your house because they would know that your people are knowledgeable.
The church is tired of the "same ole same ole," everything being the same. Everybody is expected to bring a message that will get people up, out of their seats.
Let the praise team or worship leader do their jobs. BUT allow the "bringer of the word" to do what his or her gift says that they came to do.
If there is not an in-house Apostle, bring one in.
If there is not a Bible Teacher in house, bring one in.
If there is not an Evanglist in-house, bring one in.
If there is not a Prophetess in-house, bring one in.
And sometimes Pastors need to hear from other Pastors.
Dont cheat your people. They need to hear from all five of these men/women. Hearing from all five of these will in turn wake up the gifts in the church.
After all, God put them in the Body to fulfill a purpose.
Let them be what the are.
