The fifth candle is the Christ candle. It's position, in the center of the Advent wreath, reminds us that the Incarnation of Jesus Christ is the heart of the season, giving light to the world. Jesus, the immaculate Lamb of God, has now come to wash away our sins!

The fourth candle...
The candle of LOVE signifies God's love for those created in His image. God sends His Son, Jesus to earth, born of a virgin, to die on a cross. Jesus' death satisfies sin's penalty thereby allowing repentant sinners to be reconciled to God through faith alone. God now lives through the redeemed... best illustrated through His children's sacrificial love for one another.

Candle of JOY speaks of the unbound joy of the redeemed being set free, being unburdened, released to live in the grace and wonder of life...all possible through the babe born in a manger --- Christ the Lord.

The second candle...
Candle of PEACE indicates God's promise of peace. The peace offered by the world is earthly... temporary at best. God promises eternal peace in all dimensions as He restores order over all of creation and all of human life through the eternal reign of His Son, Jesus, born of the virgin Mary.

Candle of HOPE reminds us of the hope found in the promises of God. God is faithful in His promise to redeem a chosen people out of darkness into the Light ...

Homecoming service will be Sunday, October 16th at 11:00am with a Fellowship meal to follow. Revival services continue Monday 17th through Wednesday 19th at 7:00pm each night.

Please join us at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, (16489 Dry Bread Road)
as we kick off our Vacation Bible School during a cookout with plenty of hotdogs, fixings and desserts on Sunday, June 26th at 5:00pm.

Vacation Bible School (VBS) will be held each evening from 7:00pm to 9:00pm on June 27th, 28th & 29th.

Looking forward to seeing all of the kids and their friends!!
