I will paraphrase (in language we understand today) — Jesus asked the people who came out into the desert wilderness to hear John the Baptist — “What did you come out to see? Was it a flimsy reed being shaken by the wind? Was it a well-dressed preacher in a 3-piece suit?” No — it was a bold preacher that did not mince words to be “acceptable” and crowd-friendly. It was a man who spoke deep into the hearts of his listeners! He spoke words that folks knew were true — things that pricked their hearts and made them want to change!

Find a man or woman of God that stirs you to forsake dead religion and cry out to God — and you are already well on your way to a deeper relationship with Jesus!
