Mark 12: 28-34

These commandments call us to be integrated, whole persons, connected to God’s love for us and God’s delight in our imperfect selves. When we can embrace ourselves as loved sinners, then we are better able to extend that grace to our neighbors.

O Lord, open my eyes that I may see the needs of others.
Open my ears that I may hear their cries;
Open my heart so that they need not be without succor:
Let me not be afraid to defend the weak because of the anger of the strong,
Nor afraid to defend the poor because of the anger of the rich.
Show me where love and hope and faith are needed,
And use me to bring them to those places.

Heavenly Father, we pray that the legacy of those who have fallen in service will continue to inspire and impact future generations. Help us to uphold their values of bravery, selflessness, and dedication. May their contributions to our nation be remembered with honor and their lives be celebrated through acts of kindness and service to others. Amen.

We're made by the breath of the Spirit to become the warm breath of human kindness in a time of terrible coldness and need. The Spirit is needed more than ever.
