Easter Sunday changed everything. On Friday, Jesus was executed. Publicly humiliated. Buried behind a stone. To everyone watching, it looked like the end - another failed movement crushed by power.

But Sunday morning changed everything.

“He is not here. He has risen.” - Matthew 28:6. That statement wasn’t symbolic - it was a declaration of victory:

- It means death doesn’t get the final word.
- It means sin isn’t undefeated.
- It means the grave is no longer the authority it once was.

What looked like defeat was actually a strategy.
What looked like silence was God working.
What looked like the end… was only the beginning.

If Christ is still in the tomb, Christianity collapses. But if the tomb is empty, everything changes. Easter forces a decision - not just whether it’s inspiring… but whether it’s true.

An empty tomb doesn’t just inspire - it demands a response. Not applause. Not admiration. But: Repentance. Faith. Surrender.

The stone wasn’t rolled away so Jesus could get out. It was rolled away so you could look inside - and never be the same again.

Sunday is coming. Join us at 9:30am tomorrow morning, for our Easter Worship Service.

Sunday is coming. Join us at 9:30am tomorrow morning, for our Easter Worship Service.

I can’t even fathom being one Jesus’ closest friends or family.

(When I think about His mother Mary watching all that Jesus endured, I could cry for days.)

Not only did they get to know Jesus as one of their closest friends, but they also had to watch helplessly as He was brutally killed.

That Friday had to be the worst day of their life.

It’s easy to forget that after Jesus died on the cross, He didn’t instantly raise from the dead and stand in front of them.

Saturday happened.
..The day that I can only imagine was filled with a deep, sorrowful silence.

The day filled with so many questions.

People waiting, wondering and crying, “where are you, Jesus?!”

Gosh, Isn’t that so much of our heart’s cry today?

Where are you Jesus?!

As we wait. As we ache. As we sit in broken expectations we ask these questions.

I imagine the disciples desperately wondering, what has happened?! Where is he??
..Even though He already told them.

He told them multiple times He would come back.

HE TOLD THEM.

But they forgot.

Oh my goodness... we still forget, don’t we?

I know I do.

We still wonder where Jesus is, even when He has already told us.

He is seated at the right hand of God in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 1:20). He has prepared a place for us there.

In the meantime, He is with us through the Holy Spirit, our advocate.

Jesus Himself says, “I will be with you always, until the very end of the age.” -Matthew 28:20

If you are sitting in your own metaphorical Saturday.. a time of waiting, questioning or sorrow...

Remember that He’s already told us where He is.

His word never changes.

He will always be closer to you than anyone and anything else.

Don’t forget, Sunday always comes.

“It is finished.” This was the final cry of Jesus on the cross. In the Gospel of John, the phrase comes from the Greek word "tetelestai" - a term that means “paid in full.” It was stamped on receipts when a debt had been completely satisfied.

This means Good Friday is about transaction. Sin carried a cost, and Christ absorbed it entirely. Not some of it. Not most of it. All of it. Every failure, every hidden guilt, every weight humanity couldn't lift - finished.

This is what makes the cross so powerful: nothing needs to be added to what Jesus has done. No striving can improve it. No failure can undo it. The work that reconciles you to God is already complete.

Good Friday isn’t the end of the story - it’s the moment everything necessary was accomplished so that a new beginning could begin.

At the Last Supper, Jesus took ordinary elements of a meal - bread and wine - and turned them into a living message about His death, lifting them up and saying: “This is My body… This is My blood.”

He was teaching His disciples that what was about to happen wouldn't be an accident - it would be intentional. His body would be broken and His blood would be poured out - for the disciples and for you and me.

The disciples didn't fully understand it yet. They were confused. One would deny Him. One would betray Him. All would scatter away in a few hours. And still - Jesus included them. This reveals something deeply important about how God works:

- He doesn’t wait for perfect understanding before inviting you in.
- He doesn’t require flawless faith before offering Himself.
- He meets you in the middle of your confusion - and gives Himself anyway.

The Last Supper isn’t just about remembering what Jesus did. It’s about recognizing what He’s still doing.

- He's still offering Himself.
- Still inviting us to the table.
- Still turning ordinary lives into something sacred through His sacrifice.

The invitation hasn’t changed. Come to the table.
