Conocer mejor y honrar a nuestra Madre María nos acerca más a ella y a su hijo, Jesús. La Iglesia Católica ha dedicado numerosos días de fiesta a lo largo del año a eventos en la vida de María y a sus diversos títulos. Los siguientes son algunos de los días de fiesta de María en el mes de mayo:
-- Fiesta de Nuestra Señora del Santísimo Sacramento (13 de mayo): María fue llamada Nuestra Señora del Santísimo Sacramento por San Pedro Julián Eymard en 1868.
-- Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Fátima (también 13 de mayo): Esta fiesta conmemora la primera de seis apariciones de María a tres niños pastores en Fátima, Portugal, el 13 de mayo de 1917.
-- Fiesta de María, Auxilio de los Cristianos (24 de mayo): Después de rezar a María por su segura liberación del cautiverio cuando fue hecho prisionero por los franceses, el Papa Pío VII instituyó esta fiesta en 1815.

Better knowing and honoring our Mother Mary draws us closer to her and her son, Jesus. The Catholic Church has dedicated numerous feast days throughout the year to events in the life of Mary and her various titles. The following are some of the feasts of Mary in the month of May:

-- Feast of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament (May 13): Mary was called Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament by St. Peter Julian Eymard in 1868.
-- Feast of Our Lady of Fatima (also May 13): This feast commemorates the first of six apparitions of Mary to three shepherd children at Fatima in Portugal on May 13, 1917.
-- Feast of Mary, Help of Christians (May 24): After praying to Mary for his safe release from captivity when taken prisoner by the French, Pope Pius VII instituted this feast day in 1815.
-- Feast of the Visitation (May 31): Originally celebrated in July, the feast of the Visitation marks Luke's Gospel account of Mary, having been told by the Angel Gabriel that she would bear the son of God, visiting her cousin Elizabeth.

For centuries, May has been associated with new life, beauty, and growth, making it a fitting time to honor Mary, the Mother of Jesus, who brought Christ into the world.⁣

As spring blossoms, the Church invites us to reflect on Mary’s yes to God, her humility, and her role as our spiritual mother. Traditions like May crownings, Marian processions, and praying the Rosary grew from this devotion, reminding us to place our lives more fully in Christ’s hands just as Mary did.
