06.02.2026 ✍️ Brother Sun

St. Francis, in 1225, composed “The Canticle of the Creatures,” viewing all of Creation as his brothers and sisters. He considered the Canticle a prayer of gratitude and praise to God for Creation, which he perceived as a reflection of the Divine. ✨

"Praised be you, my Lord
with all your creatures,
especially Sir Brother Sun,
who is the day through whom
you bring us light.

And he is lovely, shining
with great splendor,
for he heralds you, Most High."
~ St. Francis of Assisi ☀️

🕊️ 800th Anniversary of the Passing of St. Francis 🕊️

05.26.2026 ✍️ Stories - Preaching to the Birds

While traveling near Bevagna, Italy, St. Francis preached to a large flock of birds of various kinds that had gathered around him. He urged them to praise God for their feathers, wings, and freedom, and to avoid the sin of ingratitude. He expressed his gratitude for their ability to fly, their effortless food, and their divine protection. The birds listened attentively, opened their beaks, extended their wings, stretched their necks, and remained until Francis made the sign of the cross and gave them permission to leave. As they flew off, they formed a cross, symbolizing that the preaching of the cross would spread throughout the world. From that day forward, Francis made it a priority to preach to and encourage all creatures he encountered to love their Creator, God. ✨
