Our staff and volunteers have been working hard to complete the renovations for the Bern Dining Hall. Most recent progress was made on:

- Epoxy installed on the foyer floor.
- Final Coat of paint on the Bern ceiling
- Hardwood floors sanded and finished
- Door threshold install
- Install room heaters
- Finish room lighting
- Return tables & benches
- Set-up new & improved drink station

While there will still be some finishing touches (e.g. window trim, ceiling fans, outside drainage for gutters), we are grateful for all the renovations and improvements which are completed as the busy summer camping season begins. We're excited to see the Bern Dining Hall return as a central space for good meals and fun activities.

Though the project is nearing completion, we still need your support. Please consider donating to help cover the cost of these welcomed renovations!

We had a fantastic weekend preparing for summer, and made a new friend who is clearly outstanding in her field. 🫎🌲

There was a lot on the list, but together we were able to prepare for the summer ahead. Some of the many projects include: Leveling the patio for tables and benches, installing umbrellas, preparing the campground, spring cleaning, and relocating equipment after the winter season. Many thanks to our wonderful volunteers!

As part of the "play" this weekend, we spotted a moose! Seeing it from below, it's clear to see their sheer size and strength.

Things I appreciated about the weekend:
"Meaningful service in the company of others, creating space for meaningful conversation and connection" - 2026 Participant

From sawdust to celebrations! 🥂✨
It’s been a whirlwind week in the Bern Dining Hall. In just seven days, we went from a construction zone to a social hour space!
After the Mennonite Quilters Retreat, our crew hit the ground running:
- Installing the drink station cabinetry along with the wood on the walls to cover the electrical wiring and insulation improvements.
- Moving out the scaffolding, table saws, and lumber.
- Sweeping, vacuuming, and dusting to get things ready.

We will now resume renovations in preparation for the summer season ahead.

While a lot of places are embracing spring, the mountains still have snow in the forecast! We are glad for the 14 inch snow bringing us to 70 inches of our hoped for and needed 125 inch average. Of course we are equally blessed with breathtaking scenes.

The Summer season is just around the corner! There are lots of memories to be made, whether trying new activities, meeting new friends, or exploring the mountains! We'd love to spend time with you at our resident camps or if you're feeling more adventurous, join us for our wilderness program!

What Resident Campers Said:

“I loved the songs and even got to play piano for a few!”

“I love getting to hear everyone’s stories every night and we have great conversations.” - 8&9 Grade camper

What Wilderness Campers Said:
“Backpacking was difficult but fun.”

“My favorite activity was the rafting and floating down the river. I feel as though my overall experience was amazing and that was largely due to the staff and other campers who made me feel welcome and safe.”

“My fav experience was prolly whitewater rafting or hanging w/ everyone.”

“Devotions were good and really increased my faith in God.”

The excitement and progress continues for the renovations of the Main Camp Dining Hall/Lodge. Sometimes in spurts and sometimes in a slow and steady pace, we have been blessed with great staff, board, volunteers, and hired trades folk to accomplish the work that's been done. Since beginning last October, projects of all sizes have been accomplished!

How you can help?

Volunteer - Camp has had a great crew of "regulars" who have been instrumental in the progress achieved. Please consider joining in by visiting the RMMC Volunteer page and join in to help us reach the finish line in time for the wedding the last weekend in April!

Donor - While camp has had a great crew of donor "regulars", new and returning folks for this part of the Vision 2023 Capital Campaign (2021-2030) are needed! With an overall budget of $450k for the work and $200k received thus far, $250k is still needed. Please consider joining in to help us reach this financial "finish line" for the project via check or by visiting the RMMC Donate page.

"Breathing Through Transition" was the theme for Women's Retreat this year addressing how much need there is for mutual comfort, solace, and joy. In addition to the worship/sharing sessions, participants enjoyed the newly fallen snow and cold for outside activities like snowshoeing and curling. Inside, crafting, yoga and contra dancing were part of the weekend fellowship.

Participants shared appreciation for: "The down time" / "Time for self reflection" / "Relaxed pace" / "It was a balanced mix of activity, spirituality, music, free time, etc." / "Excellent accommodations and food!"
