The winter season has arrived here at Rocky Mountain this Monday morning! Some of the later Aspen leaves continue to add to the colors in the landscape of God’s creation.

Encouragement for all of us set aside time to see and experience the changing seasons around us. Depending on your last visit and familiarity of views, below are some helpful reminders:

In particular, it is fun to see how snowflakes find places to live in the camp sign or how the snow creates a bumpy cover of snow on the ball field as a result of tufts of grass where the snow stays and open ground where the snow melts.

We had a full week of Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) volunteers and quilter retreat participants joining together at Rocky Mountain. From Tuesday through Saturday, up to 80 trees of a variety of sizes related to forest thinning and hazard trees were removed. Trees near camp structures (Aspen, Eagles Nest), the campground and along the Aspen Ridge Nature Trail were addressed. Removing fuels is a critical part of protecting and/or minimizing the threat of fire impact to the resources we’ve been blessed with here at RMMC. Thanks to the 22 volunteers who helped with these efforts, including keeping everyone fed.

An abundance of gratitude this week here at Rocky Mountain with the arrival of:
- Golden Aspen leaves as part of the changing seasons here on the West side of Pikes Peak Massif
- A gentle rainfall, which brought a welcomed inch of moisture after a full summer of stage I & stage II fire bans.
- A National Forest road grader arrived to address the washboards, potholes, and drainage issues all the way from the highway to the Ice Falls and Sentinel Point trailhead

We are grateful to the Groffdale Volunteers who came to join us for a few days in early August. They were a huge help in completing some projects started over the summer, as well as tackling some other large projects, including:

Adding mulch to the Challenge course, re-roofing Spruce II and Ponderosa, lodge gutter drainage improvement, large housekeeping turnovers, and rebuilding a part of the pond path.

For some fun, they enjoyed completing many of the challenge course activities as a group!

Who's ready for SNOW CAMP?! We had a great time last year and would love to see many of you again in the New Year! Come enjoy another fulfilling weekend in the mountains. Enjoy singing and worshiping with other youth, sliding down the tube run, playing a competitive game of broom hockey, exploring beautiful scenery around camp, and more!

NEW THIS YEAR: For Sr.High Snow Camp, we are going to try to help accommodate Friday night activities by starting Snow Camp on Saturday and concluding on Monday (Presidents' Day). We will try it this year and welcome feedback!

Wow. What a great group of volunteers who came to be part of the RMMC ministry this Labor Day weekend. Appreciated the interest with participants even on the waitlist! Together, we completed many projects from a busy summer while preparing for the coming winter.
