On the SECOND Saturday of every month Breakfast with Baby at The Salvation Army in Des Plaines provides spiritual and material support for families.

Breakfast with Baby provides spiritual and material support for families in financial need who are at least 7 months pregnant or have a child under 2 years of age by distributing free diapers and baby wipes once a month. If a woman is at least seven months pregnant or has a child under two years of age, she is eligible to receive diapers for the baby. The format is currently drive-through from 8:00-10:00 a.m. Volunteers will ask for information and bring diapers and baby wipes to the car. Please note that newborn diapers and Sizes 1-4 are all that are currently available. In 1988, US President Ronald Reagan declared October as a month to recognize the unique grief of bereaved parents in an effort to demonstrate support to the many families who have suffered such a tragic loss. Promoting awareness of pregnancy and infant loss not only increases the likelihood that grieving families will receive understanding and support, but also results in improved education and prevention efforts which may ultimately reduce the incidence of these tragedies.

If you or someone you care about has lost a child to stillbirth, miscarriage, SIDS, or any other cause at any point during pregnancy or infancy, please join us in raising awareness this October for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.

Rock on!
This morning at today's giveaway one of several donated swings and bounce toys was set up near the baby clothes. A toddler picked out a book, crawled into the swing, and rocked and read while her mother shopped! All items are given away for free.

Hallelujah! Just heard that the number of backpacks distributed at the Dist. 59 Back to School events was near 2,000! What a privilege was ours to participate and share how we serve local families in need!
