A Prayer for Juneteenth

Jesus, we seek your light and life.
Your saving power reveals and heals.

Write the truth on the sands of our souls.
Help us to be honest with our past and with our now.
Slavery and Segregation.
Prejudice and Suppression.
Discrimination, Violence, and Silence.
Far too many continue to live in fear and want.
Far too many are targeted.

On this Juneteenth, we remember freedom wrongfully delayed.
May freedom and equality be delayed no more.

Continue with your own prayers of confession and hope.

Jesus, your revealing brings forgiveness,
grace for growth and courage for lasting change.

We lay down the stones of harmful traditions.
We lay down the stones of hard-hearted privilege.
We lay down the stones of hypocrisy and systemic oppression.

Write a new story in our lives and land.
Write equality and opportunity.
Write justice and dignity.
Write friendship, solidarity, and hope.

We need you and your redeeming love.
We all need you. Amen.

Signs of a great day of celebrating and launching our grads followed by Legos and Lasagna! To kick off the beginning of Summer, Pastor Sam challenged each table team to come up with a vacation destination using loose Lego pieces. Then to reflect on what we wish for our grads in their journey ahead, we were challenged to build an "ark" of sorts which carries everything that a grad needs to be equipped for life - like God commissioned Noah to do.
