Last Sunday, the sanctuary at Trinity United Methodist Church was filled with a special kind of energy. We watched with joyful hearts as four remarkable young Christians were welcomed into the full life of our congregation. It was a morning defined by bright smiles, solemn vows, and the undeniable, tangible presence of the Holy Spirit moving among the pews. However, as I stood before our confirmands before the congregation, I was struck by a profound realization: Confirmation is not merely their milestone; it is ours.
When these four young Christians stood to profess their faith, they weren't standing alone. Their "Yes" was a beautiful response to the grace that you—this church family—have modeled for them since they were babies. For years, this congregation has been the steady hand guiding them toward a deeper knowledge and understanding of God’s love and grace.
Simultaneously, their public commitment serves as a fresh spark for the rest of us. It reignites our own sacred vows to love God and our neighbors. In their energetic response, they remind us that we are all God’s instruments, called to embody the Kingdom of God here and now.
As we move forward, let us remember that we are also confirmed alongside them every day. Their journey is a mirror of our own. They cross into a new chapter of faith, and we are reminded of the path we walk beside them. Let’s continue to walk, question, and grow together as one body in Christ, fueled by the mission and ministry of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Yours faithfully,
Rev. Sam Park
