Davis Cemetery Davis Cemetery District and Arboretum
A community tradition of historic natural beauty since 1855. The Davis Cemetery is an active part of the Davis community.

All year long they hold community events and strive to be “an inviting space for remembrance, contemplation, and healing.” They encourage visitors to stop by the art gallery in the office, take a relaxing stroll through the labyrinth, and enjoy the beautiful flow form fountain, among other activities. The cemetery is a recognized arboretum, so visitors can wander the grounds and see more than 100

different species of trees, flowers, and other plants. Whether you would like to view art, learn about local history or enjoy nature, the cemetery has something for everyone. Arboretum

In 2012, the Davis Cemetery District became a level II accredited arboretum with the Morton Register of Arboreta. The Morton Register provides guidelines and standards for becoming an arboretum. Level II accreditation means the Davis Cemetery District and Arboretum contains over 100 tree and woody plant species, has a specific employee to manage the arboretum, and has a program for public education about the arboretum. The cemetery also has the last natural hill and swale in the city. A swale is a low area of land where water from rain and irrigation collects and seeps through the soil to recharge the groundwater. In 2007-2009, community volunteers helped complete a revegetation project to plant 42,000 grass and sedge plugs in the swale. These grasses and sedges are native species which help filter pollutants out of the water. Additionally, there are several gardens in the cemetery for visitors to enjoy. The Scent Garden contains lots of fragrant plants and the bulb garden has many kinds of flowers that bloom at different times throughout the year. Aside from viewing plants, you can also use one of the two labyrinths for a quiet, meditative walk or listen to the soothing Veteran Memorial Fountain.

Another day with my amazing crew. It’s not easy to be surrounded by loss every day, but knowing that we are helping families through some of the most difficult moments of their lives is fulfilling in a way I never imagined. I’m grateful to work alongside such compassionate and dedicated people who make a difference every day.

Working smarter, not harder!
Today, we installed our first Polyguard burial vault. This lightweight vault provides the same durability and moisture protection as a traditional concrete vault while making the installation process easier and safer for our grounds staff.
Polyguard offers an innovative alternative to conventional concrete vaults through the use of cutting-edge, lightweight, non-biodegradable polypropylene construction. The result is a strong, durable product that delivers long-lasting protection while reducing the physical demands of installation.
We are committed to providing burial products that offer permanence and protection for the families we serve while creating a safer and more efficient working environment for our employees.

Exciting progress at the Davis Cemetery District!

We are pleased to announce the completion of our new service equipment storage building. This addition provides a secure, organized space for the equipment our staff use each day to support graveside interment services.

By improving storage capacity and operational efficiency, this new facility helps us ensure that our service equipment remains clean, well-maintained, and readily available for the families we serve. It also allows our main shop to remain dedicated to equipment storage, maintenance, and repair operations.

This investment supports our ongoing commitment to providing respectful, professional service while maintaining the highest standards of care throughout the cemetery.

A few years back we decided to plant an Amaryllis the office received for Christmas. It has prorogated several times since planting and brings us beautiful blooms in early Spring. Here she is today in all her glory!
