It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our parishioner and dear friend, Carmen Chavarria. While we deeply mourn her loss, we can take comfort knowing that she is now happily with our Lord and Mary, Our Lady of Fatima. She loved us all with her “Arms Wide Open!” Many times, in her later years, she would often say “God has been so good to me, he provided everything! Due to the dangerously low temperatures predicted for tomorrow, the office will be closed Friday, Jan. 23rd. We encourage our parishioners to stay inside and warm, maybe get in a rosary or two! We will open for business again on Monday, Jan. 26th. Thank you for your understanding, and God Bless!

Calling our St. Alphonsus family, we need a prayer or 2 for parishioner and servant Mrs. Carmen Chavarria, as health is fleeting and a new beginning may be on the horizon for her! "Mom" remembers you all and gives all her love to St. Alphonsus Church and friends!

A reminder to all our parishioners! If you took an angel from the tree, your gifts are due back Sunday Dec. 14th! If you don't think you'll be able to make it to Mass this weekend, the parish office will be open until 2 PM today and tomorrow, feel free to drop off your presents with Vickie or call to make arrangements for drop off!

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our lifelong parishioner, Donna Hughes. Her funeral services will be held at St. Alphonsus Church tomorrow, 11/7/2025, at 10 AM following visitation held at the church. Throughout her life, she was a pillar of faith and community, and she will be missed by many. Please pray for her and her family, and offer condolences if you are able. "Eternal rest grant unto her, oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her."

The parish office will be closed tomorrow, 11/7/2025, in honor of Rev. Guillermo Trevino's funeral. We will reopen for normal business hours Monday November 10th. Father Guillermo was a well-known and well-loved priest across the state of Iowa, perhaps even the world. The parish of St. Alphonsus was incredibly lucky to have him as our pastor several years ago. We encourage everyone to pray for him, his family, and his parish in West Liberty, IA, and to offer your condolences to the family if you are able. Sunday November 2nd is All Souls Day, when we remember all of our loved ones who have gone to their eternal reward. On this day, there is no limit to the number of intentions for deceased individuals offered at this Mass. If you would like to have the November 2nd 9 AM All Souls Day Mass offered for your departed family members or friends, please reach out to the parish office at 563-322-0987 or email at [email protected]. Stipend cost is currently $5 per family; if this changes we will update everyone in a timely manner.
