Join us this Sunday at 9:00 AM for our weekly worship service! Our lectionary for this week will include the following scriptures:
Hosea 5:15—6:6
Psalm 50:7-15
Romans 4:13-25

Though Jesus was a devout Jew who practiced his faith, he was criticized for eating with tax collectors and sinners—the religiously nonobservant. Jesus criticizes the self-righteous and reminds us that mercy is to be at the heart of our religious practices. God continues to be made known in those on the margins of society, like Matthew the tax collector and the hemorrhaging woman. As we gather each Lord’s day we receive the healing that makes us well and sends us forth to be signs of God’s mercy for the world.

Yesterday at our worship service one of our readings was Psalm 23. Let us carry this word with us throughout this week:

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not be in want.

The Lord makes me lie down in green pastures
and leads me beside still waters.

You restore my soul, O Lord,
and guide me along right pathways for your name’s sake.

Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil;
for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil, and my cup is running over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. 🐑

This Sunday, Pastor Brown will lead our worship service. We'll reflect on a significant event that occurred after Jesus' resurrection that can be found in John 20:19-31. Jesus appeared to many of his close disciples except Thomas. Although Thomas heard that Jesus had risen, he remained skeptical. He declared, “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger in the mark of the nails and my hand in his side, I will not believe.”

In the midst of Thomas's doubt, Jesus met him without reprimand. Instead, He invited Thomas to touch Him and see for himself: “Put your finger here and see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it in my side. Do not doubt but believe.”

Then, Jesus pronounced a blessing on those who, like us, come to belief without seeing. "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.”

He has risen! Today we celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ. He rose on the third day as he predicted. As we believe in and trust his power to forgive us of any sin we may have committed, we can receive his forgiveness, and a clean slate with a new life in Him.

We are wishing you and your family a blessed day as you reflect on this momentous event!

On Saturday it was quiet, and many had lost hope. Jesus had been laid to rest in the tomb, and Roman guards were assigned to protect it. Jesus had prophesized that he would spend three days in the heart of the earth, and this was the time he predicted, though many did not realize. We will wait until tomorrow to see what he meant when he promised to rise again.
