Christ Memorial Episcopal Church was founded in 1828 by Danville resident, Peter Baldy, and has been a solid, stable place of worship ever since. Over the years, the church has had it “ups and downs,” most notably a great fire in 1948 which destroyed the central bell tower and left only the exterior walls. The church was reconstructed, but the tower was never rebuilt. Recently, Christ Church has e

ntered a new era of visibility and vitality, perhaps unlike any seen since its inception. Due to the generous donations of parishioners and the blessings of monetary gifts and bequests, we have been able to re-build the tower and restore almost every time worn aspect of the church. Christ Memorial Episcopal Church no longer lies dormant, but now has come alive generating excitement and interest throughout the entire community. The monetary blessings that we have received allow Christ Church to maintain a healthy financial foundation and a solid physical structure to match our on-going spiritual enthusiasm.

This Sunday is Trinity Sunday — and with it, we cross the threshold into Ordinary Time.

Trinity Sunday holds its own — a feast that invites us to sit with the mystery at the heart of everything: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. One God, in relationship, from before the beginning.

And then the long green season opens. Week by counted week. The Season after Pentecost stretches out ahead of us like a forest path — unhurried, ordinary, and full of life.

This is where discipleship actually happens. Not in the high drama of Easter or the fire of Pentecost, but in the faithful, everyday practice of showing up.

We hope you’ll show up with us.

Today our youngest members led us through Pentecost — waving flags, carrying the fire, and helping Rev. Lisa Work with the sermon.

After we renewed our Baptismal Covenant together, Rev. Lisa was assisted in asperging congregation — sprinkling water as a reminder of who we are and whose we are.

Wind. 💨 Fire. 🔥 Water. 💧
And the hands and voices of young people to help us remember. It was a GLORIOUS DAY!

The nave is ready. The Spirit is moving.

Tomorrow our whole community gathers to celebrate Pentecost. Sometimes you need a second wind. That’s what Pentecost is — the Holy Spirit showing up, gathering what is scattered, and sending it somewhere.

We will also renew our Baptismal Covenant together — remembering who we are and whose we are.

We hope you will join us for our 10:30 service.

Come Celebrate Pentecost With Us This Sunday, May 24th!

The Holy Spirit is moving, and we'd love for you to be here when it does! Pentecost is one of the most joyful and powerful days in the church calendar, a celebration of new beginnings, the gift of the Spirit, and the birth of the Church.

Whether you're returning after a long time away, visiting for the first time, or looking for a community to call home, our doors are wide open for you.

Wear RED! Red is the traditional color of Pentecost, representing the tongues of fire that rested on the disciples when the Holy Spirit came. Show your spirit and come dressed in red!

What IS the Bible, exactly? How was it written? And what do we do with the parts that trouble us?

Beginning May 14, we're exploring those questions together in a new six-week formation class using
Adam Hamilton's book
Making Sense of the Bible: Rediscovering the Power of Scripture Today.

We'll have an honest, open conversation about the book at the heart of our faith — the questions we've always wondered about, the passages that trouble us, and the God who speaks through it all.

No prior knowledge required.
Just bring your curiosity and your Bible if you have one.

Thursdays at 6:15 PM or Sundays at 9:00 AM
Community Room | Christ Memorial Episcopal Church

Whether you've read Scripture your whole life or you're just starting to wonder, there's a place for you at the table.
Come as you are. Bring your questions.
