Today's Scripture
So Pharaoh sent for Joseph, and he was quickly brought from the dungeon.
Genesis 41:14, NIV

Nothing Lost, Everything Gained
For thirteen long years after Joseph’s brothers betrayed him, he was enslaved, lied about, mistreated, imprisoned, and forgotten. Given Joseph’s environment, the dream that God gave him of leadership and the identity that he was going to do something great could have easily been lost in bitterness. But rather than play the victim, Joseph was faithful to be his best, and the day came when God suddenly turned things around and made him the ruler of Egypt.

We all have opportunities to lose who we really are. You go through a relationship breakup, a job layoff, or a financial setback, and thoughts will tell you, “You’re not valuable. Nobody wants to be around you. You’re nothing but a failure.” People will tell you to be content and make the most of it. Don’t take on that defeated identity and let it change you. What happens to you is not who you are. You’re a masterpiece. You’re made in the image of God and crowned with favor. Keep trusting Him, and you’re going to break out of the dungeon and be brought to the palace.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that what so often looks like a setback is really Your hand moving me toward Your purpose. Thank You that what’s wrong is going to push open doors and bring opportunities I could never experience without it. Help me to keep trusting while You work things out. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Today's Scripture
He replied, “I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.”
Genesis 3:10, NLT

Back to Wholeness
When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, they immediately felt guilty and hid. They went from loving God to being afraid. They lost their innocence, their joy, their wholeness. Too often, we do the same. We make a mistake, have a disappointment or a broken relationship, and we go into hiding. You can lose part of yourself. Things happen that have taken your joy, limited your vision, stopped your creativity. Now you’ve settled in that area. You’re not pursuing your dreams, not enjoying your family, not passionate about life.

God is saying, “Come out of hiding and go back to who I created you to be. Let Me love you back to wholeness and give you a new beginning.” Get your fire back, get your dream back. No more isolating, checking out, pretending to be there but not engaging. This is a new day. That lost part of you is coming back—the creative you, the outgoing you, the compassionate you, the generous you, the successful you, the victorious you. You haven’t seen the best version of you yet. It’s still in front of you.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for entrusting me with my life, with gifts and talents and dreams. Thank You that I have greatness in me because You put it there. Help me to come out of hiding and have You restore all that You’ve given me. I believe that wholeness is right in front of me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Today's Scripture
Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.”
Daniel 3:28, NIV

Two Kinds of Faith
In the book of Daniel, because three Hebrew teenagers refused to bow down to the king’s golden statue, they were thrown into a fiery furnace. They said, “The God we serve is able to deliver us from the fire, but even if He does not, we will not worship the image of gold.” Miraculously, they not only survived, but they came out unharmed and without even the smell of smoke.

There are two kinds of faith. There’s delivering faith, when our all-powerful God instantly takes you out of the problem, keeps you out of the fire, parts the Red Sea. Then there’s sustaining faith, when God makes you fireproof and takes you through the fire as the pathway to your destiny. Most of the time, you’re going to need sustaining faith for when you don’t see anything improving, when the opposition’s bigger. The good news is that God is sustaining and strengthening you through the trouble, through the sickness, through the breakup. Stay in peace. Trust Him that you’re in the middle of your miracle. You’re going to come out without the smell of smoke.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that no matter what the situation is, I can trust You to take me through difficulties and unfair situations. Thank You that You are my vindicator and that You are right there with me to sustain my faith. I believe I will come through without the smell of smoke. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Enough Is Enough
“I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey.”
Exodus 3:7–8, NKJV

The Israelites had been in slavery for 400 years. Ten generations had been mistreated, abused, and oppressed, though they’d done nothing wrong. Because the Egyptians had a strong army and weapons, it looked like the Israelites would never be free. But God said, “Enough is enough. You couldn’t do anything about it, but I’m coming down to break the chains, deliver you, and bring you into the Promised Land.”
You may be struggling with something that you can look back and see has been passed down to you through generations of your family—an addiction, depression, poverty, guilt, shame, anxiety, insecurity. God knows the negative things you inherited and the results of being raised in a difficult environment. You’ve carried the weight of what was passed down and borne the consequences of other people’s actions long enough. God is going to deliver you from generational baggage and the unfair things in your family line. It’s your time to be free. You are a slave to nothing. Believe that your release has already happened in the unseen realm and is on the way.

Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You that You are a God of justice and You see every negative thing that has been passed down to me. Thank You that the time comes when You say that enough is enough and You break the bondages. I believe that it’s my time to be free, that my release is on the way. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Today's Scripture
Where there is no vision, the people perish.
Proverbs 29:18, KJV

Have a Vision
Do you have a vision for your life, a God-sized dream and promises from God? It’s easy to have complaints about what didn’t work out or who hurt us. That wrong vision is going to limit your life. The Scripture says that if you’re lacking vision, you’ve reached your limits, you’re focused on what you can’t do and on how big the obstacles are. What would happen if you start writing a new vision? Write what God says about you. If you’re dealing with an illness, write the vision: “God says He is restoring health to me. I am healthy and whole. I am strong and energetic.” If you’re believing to pay your house off, write the vision: “God says I will lend and not borrow. What I touch prospers and succeeds. I am debt free. I am blessed so I can be a blessing.” Keep a new vision in front of you. That’s what you’re giving permission to come to pass. Who knows where God will take you if you will dare to write the vision.

A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that I can begin to see myself the way You see me: as blessed, prosperous, healthy, strong, talented, and successful. Help me to get the negative images out and the fresh, new vision in. I believe that Your vision for me will become a reality. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
