Twenty five years ago, if you are old enough to have a clear memory of that day, the world forever changed.
You know where you were, who you were with, and what you were doing.
I cannot ponder the events of this day without thinking of James 4:14
“yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.” ESV
On September 11, 2001 the pilots, flight crews, passengers, those in the Towers and the Pentagon, and the first responders began their day with no idea it would be there last.
I pray for many things on a day like today.
First, that for those who grieve the loss of their loved ones to feel the comfort of Almighty God.
Second, that we would show appreciation to those in our community that stand ready to help us in our moment of need like those of FDNY, NYPD, and other first responders did in New York and at the Pentagon.
When you see an EMS member, Fireman, member of the Rescue Squad, Police Officer, someone from the Sheriff’s Office tell them you appreciate them and pray for them regularly.
Third, I pray that days like today will cause us a believers to share the only hope that this world has- the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ.
This day will stand as a witness to the evil man is capable of.
As believers we must resolve to do as Paul instructed in Romans 12:21
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good (ESV).
The only lasting good is when a person is made new by the gospel!
