St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cullman

St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cullman Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and welcome to our page! St. Paul’s is our school. We teach from three years old through sixth grade.

Paul’s Lutheran Church is a member of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod and was founded in 1885. We have a very rich tradition here and a great love for our Lord Jesus Christ and our community. Each and every day we strive to “Proclaim Jesus Christ today—to all.” Our biggest mission at St. Our children receive an education that is Christ centered and competes with the city system which is among t

he top in the state. We are excited for the bright future ahead. Our congregation stands firm on the confession that “Jesus is Lord” and that “All Scripture is God breathed.” God’s Holy Word is our rule of faith and practice. Everything that we believe, teach, and confess has its foundation in Scripture alone. Feel free to browse our website, watch services from the past, and join us anytime! The peace of our Lord Jesus be with you!

What an incredible week at Vacation Bible School!

From hymns and Bible lessons to crafts, games, and fellowship, "Wake, Awake: Watching for Jesus" was a wonderful week of growing in God's Word. A heartfelt thank you to all of our teachers and volunteers who gave so generously of their time and talents. To God alone be the glory!

As we wrap up VBS, we invite all of our children to sing "Wake, Awake" this Sunday during the 10:30 Divine Service. Please have your child in the sanctuary by 10:00 a.m. for practice and to rehearse moving in and out of the choir loft. Parents are asked to sit with their child in the section closest to the choir loft.

We look forward to praising our Lord together one more time!

Yesterday, as we celebrated the Feast of Pentecost, many may have noticed the beautiful new red parament adorning our altar. While we forgot to capture a formal photo of the finished piece, our "Little Lutheran Ladies" graciously stepped in and helped us share a glimpse of it with the congregation.

This Pentecost parament is rich with meaning and symbolism. The twelve flames at the top represent the fire of Pentecost, while the twelve drops below symbolize the blood of the martyrs. At the center, uniting it all, is the Spiritus Gladius — the Sword of the Spirit — the Word of God.

This piece marks the final installment in a year-long project to replace our aging and well-loved paraments. We give heartfelt thanks to Reenie Baumann and Joan Messersmith, whose creativity, craftsmanship, and countless hours of dedicated work brought these beautiful pieces to life. Without their vision and seamstress abilities, these paraments simply would not exist.

Thank you, Reenie and Joan, for sharing your gifts in service to Christ and His Church.

We are excited to welcome Olivia Thoelke to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School!

A recent graduate of Concordia University Irvine, Olivia has been deeply involved in both music and campus life throughout her time there. Her experience includes performing with the Concordia Choir, Symphony Orchestra, Concert Handbells, and several chamber ensembles. Through these opportunities, she traveled extensively and recently performed at Carnegie Hall as principal cellist during a tour in New York City.

Her passion for worship and church music also led her to serve as Chapel Coordinator and Evening Prayer Coordinator, where she helped establish Evening Prayer as an official campus worship opportunity, introducing students to liturgical evening worship services.

Olivia grew up in a musical family alongside her two sisters, and the three enjoyed playing string trios together throughout their childhood. Her family’s journey through Lutheran education has taken them across the country, serving schools and congregations in Illinois, Texas, and now Chicago.

Outside of music, Olivia enjoys baking, cooking, board games, card games, and spending time with friends. While cello was her first musical love, she now especially enjoys playing organ for worship and recreation. She is deeply passionate about liturgy, hymnody, theology, and the beauty of Church worship.

Please join us in warmly welcoming Olivia to the St. Paul’s family! We look forward to the many ways God will work through her gifts and talents in our congregation and school.

Today, we give thanks to God for the gift of mothers and the many women who nurture, guide, and care for others in Christ-like love. We honor mothers, grandmothers, adoptive and foster mothers, and the faithful women who serve as spiritual mothers within the Church.

Their prayers, patience, sacrifice, and steadfast faith help point the next generation to Christ each and every day.

On this Mother’s Day, we also hold close in prayer those longing to be mothers, those who have experienced the loss of a child or mother, and those for whom this day carries both love and sorrow. May God’s comfort and peace surround them.

As Scripture reminds us:
“Her children rise up and call her blessed.” Proverbs 31:28

We pray God would strengthen and encourage all women in their vocations and fill their hearts with the same love and grace they so freely share with others.

Happy Mother’s Day from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church!
