Step 4 is where recovery becomes deeply honest.
Not just about behaviors. About what’s underneath them.
The resentment. The fear. The shame. The wounds. The patterns. The parts of yourself you learned to hide, protect, avoid, or numb.
This step can feel intimidating because it asks you to stop running from yourself. But it is not about self-hatred. It is about self-awareness.
You cannot heal what you refuse to look at.
And often, the things we avoid examining are the very things quietly shaping our lives.
Step 4 is not about proving you are bad. It is about becoming honest enough to understand yourself with clarity, humility, and compassion.
We’re walking through all 12 steps, one week at a time. You’re welcome here, wherever you’re starting.
