Today, July 18th, is the feast day of St. Camillus de Lellis, the patron saint of hospitals, nurses and the sick.

Born in 1550, he was an Italian soldier who struggled with an intense gambling addiction. After losing all of his money, he began to work at a hospital in Rome where he had been treated for a leg wound and he experienced a profound spiritual conversion. He devoted the rest of his life to healthcare and founded the Camillians, known as the "Ministers of the Sick."

Caring for the sick is more than a social responsibility; it is a direct encounter with Christ. The National Catholic Community Foundation has tools that can help you support this important ministry. Contact us today.
