About Seventh-day Adventists:
Adventists believe that The Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, are the written Word of God, given by divine inspiration, and that no further statement or creed is necessary for our religious experience. The Bible's inspired authors spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. In this Word, God has committed to humanity the knowledge necessary for salva
tion. The Holy Scriptures are the supreme, authoritative, and the infallible revelation of His will. They are the standard of character, the test of experience, the definitive revealer of doctrines, and the trustworthy record of God’s acts in history and His relationship to humanity (2 Timothy 3:15-16). Adventists believe in the observance of the Biblical seventh day Sabbath as instituted in the Garden of Eden at the culmination of creation, and as the only day sanctified by God. This observance is a sign between God and His people (Exodus 31:13 and Ezekiel 20:20), and this sign is memorialized in the Fourth Commandment which directs God’s people to Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. The Sabbath commandment (Exodus 20:8-11) contains the seal of God which includes His Name (The LORD), His Title (Creator), and His Domain (Heaven and earth, and all that in them is)
Adventists believe in a Trinity of three persons--the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit--make up one God. They made salvation possible when Jesus, the Son, was born in a manger in Bethlehem and lived a sinless life in accordance with the Father's will. When Jesus was crucified for the sins of the people of the world (Matthew 1:21) and arose from the dead on the third day, victory was won for everyone. When He returned to heaven following the resurrection, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to serve as our Comforter and Counselor. He promised to return to earth a second time, and Adventists are among the believers who look forward to the day that Jesus returns to the earth to take His people with Him to Heaven to live forever. Adventists believe God's appointed mission for His people is to spread the wonderful news that we have a Savior in Jesus that has come to rescue His people from the penalties of sin, so that all people have the opportunity to experience salvation. Adventists believe that God is concerned with all aspects of human life. Everything we do --the way we live, eat, speak, think, treat each other, and care for the world around us--reflects our relationship with Him. Our families, our children, our jobs, our talents, our money, and our time are all important to Him, and He wants us to live a full and rewarding life to give evidence of the relationship we have with Him.
