Do you have cremated remains in your home? Our cemeteries office invites you to Lay Them to Rest with a free committal service on October 31 in Beloit or on November 2 in Madison.

While families may have reasons for wishing to keep cremated remains in their home, the Church teaches that human remains, whether a body or ashes, belong in a cemetery. Burial of a loved one brings us closure and is an expression of hope in the Resurrection. Our cemeteries office offers Lay Them to Rest as a way to reverently inter cremated remains that people have kept in their homes. This service is offered at no cost to participants. Perpetual record-keeping is included.

Lay Them to Rest is being offered this year on October 31 at Mount Thabor Cemetery in Beloit, and November 2 at Resurrection Cemetery in Madison. Please visit madisondiocese.org/rest for important information about each cemetery's terms and conditions and to register. Registration is requested by October 24 to guarantee participation.

The St. Bernard Madonna Rosary Makers have been busy sharing their faith and love! 📿✨
They are overjoyed to share that their group made and delivered 275 Mission Rosaries for the upcoming Beatification Mass for Archbishop Fulton Sheen on September 24th. During their visit, they even got a special behind-the-scenes look and met two of the lead students involved in this effort.
The global response to this project has been absolutely awe-inspiring. The original goal of 75,000 rosaries was completely shattered, with an estimated three to four times that amount collected! Over 70,000 rosaries are already boxed up for the Beatification services, leaving a massive supply to aid missions worldwide for a long time to come. 🌍🙏
While they were there, the Madonna Rosary Makers also took time to visit the Cathedral of St. Mary to pay their respects at Archbishop Sheen's tomb, as well as the nearby Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Museum to learn more about his incredible life and legacy.
Thank you so much to everyone who supported this project through your generous donations and powerful prayers. They could not have done this without our amazing community! ❤️

Happy Feast day! We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You, because by Your Holy Cross, You have redeemed the world!

Today, September 14, is the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross! This feast celebrates the finding of the True Cross by St. Helena, mother of Emperor Constantine, while she was on a pilgrimage in Jerusalem, and it marks the dedication in the year 335 of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, built on the site where Jesus died and was buried.

We exalt the Cross for the same reason that the Israelites looked upon the bronze serpent in today's first reading: It is our healing remedy, the instrument of our salvation. Though it inspired horror in the hearts of those who looked at it in Jesus' time, we can embrace it, and all the crosses that we endure in our daily lives, because we know that with the Cross comes Jesus Christ. He will not abandon us in our sufferings and can even use them for good.

We pray today for our Holy Cross Catholic Parish! We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You, because by Your Holy Cross, You have redeemed the world!
