“Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.’”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Rest…

I’m very glad that I grew up in a time when Saturdays were sacred—a time for families to dedicate themselves to rest and reset. Somehow, the American lifestyle has gobbled that up! It no longer exists as it did in years past. The world has changed, and rest has become an expensive luxury.

God commanded a day of rest not as a method to control us, but as a means to help, heal, and position us for success.

Learning to ignore the busyness of life and make rest a priority takes practice. Not allowing guilt to haunt you or finances to stop you may feel uncomfortable at first, but with time and consistency, the results can be life-changing.

Did you know that a lack of rest forces our bodies into a constant state of stress? When we don’t stop to still our bodies and minds, we risk health problems, relationship issues, and spiritual depletion.

Most of us already know the benefits of rest, yet we struggle to make time for it. Breaking the cycle of expectations, responsibilities, and the perceived cost of taking a day off requires prayer, effort, and determination.

The beauty of rest is that we have an open invitation in Matthew 11:28. When we go to Him, He is faithful to give us the kind of rest we need for our body, mind, and soul.

God is faithful.

“The Lord has been mindful of us; He will bless us; He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭115‬:‭12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

There is a divine awareness over me! Praise God!

People watching is one of my favorite pastimes. It’s fascinating to observe how humans interact with one another and respond to different situations. Yet, even with careful observation, my perspective is limited and boundaries must be respected. In today’s world, we have undeniable evidence that “Big Brother” is constantly watching. Cameras are strategically placed — even hidden in unexpected places — monitoring human activity, both good and bad. This lack of privacy can leave people feeling uncomfortable, vulnerable, and exposed.

But there is One who watches over His children with perfect love and compassion. His divine awareness of humanity is far more intimate, encompassing, and personal. The One who watches over us does so with the intention to bless us! He anticipates our needs, stands ready to answer when we knock, and listens attentively to every cry.

To be mindful means to be present, attentive, and aware. God is fully aware of who we are and where we are in every moment of our lives. Psalm 139 reminds us that we cannot escape His presence. He is everywhere! And unlike “Big Brother,” His watchful presence is not meant for punishment, but for protection, guidance, and blessing.

Divine awareness is a 360-degree shield — a constant, faithful covering over our lives 24/7. He is mindful of us, and He will bless us! God is faithful!

Rest and wait!

It’s almost impossible to rest while others seem to be thriving. Patience during the waiting process is a challenge! Social media has made it hard to ignore the highlights of others’ lives. We scroll through their success stories, often feeling like we’re not living our best life.

This weekend, I saw friends and loved ones enjoying beautiful towns and relaxing on stunning beaches. I was delighted to see friends with enough energy to walk all day at Disneyland and rejoiced with churches that experienced a powerful outpouring of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost Sunday! It was a joy to witness God’s blessings on His children. God is good!

However, those were just a few highlights. The rest of the world didn’t have a Disney day or a beach walk. Many people stayed home, catching up on household chores. Life takes on a different perspective when people are grieving a loss or caring for a sick loved one.

Over the years, I’ve learned a valuable lesson: everyone has a season, and each season is unique, personal, and purposeful. If you wait patiently, your day of blessing will come!

God’s Word advises us not to worry about those who prosper in their ways and encourages us to “Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him.”

For me, “rest” means trust, and “wait” means expecting. We serve an unfailing and always-on-time God! He always completes what He starts. He is just, righteous, and true.

Rest and wait—God is faithful!

“See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭49‬:‭16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States that honors those who lost their lives while serving in the military. People often say that time heals and people forget…but there is One who never forgets, and His name is Jesus.

Isaiah reminds us that God never forgets His children. He compares His love to that of a mother who would never forget her nursing child. In fact, He declares, “I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands.” What a profound picture of His unfailing love and remembrance.

In reference to the palms of His hands, we know that Jesus bore scars in His hands after being nailed to the cross for us. What a sacrifice!
“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”
‭‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Today we honor the fallen. Many families will visit memorials where the names of their loved ones are inscribed on walls as symbols of honor, sacrifice, and dignity for the brave warriors who gave their lives for our country. They will not be forgotten.

How comforting to know that those who belong to Him are forever inscribed upon the palms of His hands.

God bless America. 🇺🇸
God is faithful!

“As soon as I pray, you answer me; you encourage me by giving me strength.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭138‬:‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

He answers with encouragement through strength!

The life of a pastor’s wife isn’t for the faint of heart. Surely His strength is perfected in our weakness!

I’ve often wondered if someone turned up the notch on the pace of life. Is it just me, or does it seem like we’re always running from one thing to the next?

This has been one of those weeks. So many legitimate needs and responsibilities to attend to — at times it felt endless — yet I sensed God’s presence in every situation.

This morning, I opened God’s Word, and Psalm 138:3 spoke directly to my soul… He sends strength and He sends it quickly!

Dear pastor’s wife, you and I can count on God to send strength exactly when it’s needed — the kind of encouragement that gives us the confidence and endurance to overcome challenges and accomplish what He’s called us to do.

Prayer — that’s the key. 🔑

He doesn’t delay; He sends help right on time. He is willing, He is able, and He is always faithful.

God is faithful!

“For the Lord God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭84‬:‭11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

He withholds no good thing…

As I sit in my office, the bright sun shines directly onto my desk. I scoot over, hoping to shield myself from its harsh rays that are blinding me. I must look quite a sight in my awkward position, but it’s the only way I can be comfortable and get my work done.

The Lord is both our sun and our shield. We cannot experience the sun without the shield. The harsh rays of light would harm us, blind us, and disable us if He were not our protection.

He gives us grace and glory! How wonderful is that? Grace is God’s unearned help and presence in our present life, while glory represents the perfect and eternal reward awaiting us in His presence forever.

We serve a perfect God who loves imperfect people. He reveals Himself in the very way we need Him most — as sun and shield, grace and glory. What a perfect combination!

He withholds no good thing from us.

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.”
‭‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

What good thing are you asking for today? What goodness is needed in your life? Jesus desires to fulfill every good and perfect purpose for His children, and all He asks of us is that we walk uprightly before Him.
God is faithful!
