Memorial Day 2026 dawned with sunshine and a gentle breeze in our beautiful cemetery. Our parishioners came out for a peaceful morning at Calvary Cemetery to remember all of those who served our country. We gathered for Mass at the newly refurbished altar area, celebrated by Fr. Ted Rothrock, who preached an inspiring homily to remind all of us how blessed we are to have our Catholic faith and the freedom to evangelize and share the Good News of Christ. The morning closed with an honor guard ceremony honoring those who died serving our country.

Thanks be to God for all of the men and women who bravely serve our country- past and present!

It was a beautiful Sunday as we all shared in the joyful event of our 2025-26 First Communion Day- the first day of the rest of their lives as Catholics, blessed to receive the Eucharist! They were all so excited and full of joy for Jesus!

Our hearts are full of gratitude for all of the graces they will receive because of the magnificent ways the Eucharist enriches our souls. Thanks be to God for His immense love for us!

We had an incredibly wonderful year of Faith and prayer with our Newman Center ministry serving the Catholic men at Wabash College. They were able to come together at both the college and our parish for spiritual enrichment and spend time in fellowship, as well. Our final Mass of the year brought one more member into full communion with the Catholic Church, just in time for his graduation. The growth has been immense this year!

We are beyond grateful for this opportunity to share the love of Christ and His Church with the students and our community. We look forward to another year of fruitful growth and faith come August- but we closed this year with our hearts full of the graces and joy these men have brought to our parish and their peers this year! Thanks be to God!

It was a full house at the party celebrating the end of the school year for all of our families, catechists and volunteers, who make the Religious Education at St. Bernard a program that yields so much growth in our youth, and plants seeds that continue to grow as they move from year to year!

We have a lot of gratitude to share today!

We want to thank all of our amazingly dedicated catechists and classroom assistants who volunteer their time every week to share their faith with our youth at the parish. Thank you to the guest speakers and those we came to share their testimony or contribute to the conversations in the high school formation program.

Thank you to our amazing volunteer cleaning crew who help take care of the classrooms, our church, and come out to clean the restrooms and the hallways every single week. Your hard work keeps our parish fresh and sparkling!

Thank you to the maintenance committee for all of their contributions to fixing our old building so we have a place to gather for fellowship and education.

Thank you to the Knights of Columbus #1591 for generously donating our new basketball backboards so we can have these awesome games!

Thank you to all of the families for the many donations they contributed this year for snacks and water bottles. We are so grateful for every single donation!

We also extend a big thank you to Char Shaw and The Big Dipper for donating the ice cream for our end of the year event. We appreciate your continued support for St. Bernard faith formation programs and our evangelization efforts in the community.

And thank you to the Lowe Brothers and Brothers Pizza for donating food to our OCIA formation nights and other events at St. Bernard over this school year.

See you all in the Fall!

The end of the year for Religious Education closed with our big family celebration in the gym, and a friendly game of basketball with the youth playing with their catechists from the Wabash College Newman Center. The youth look forward to this event each year and the competition is fierce! Here's a short recap of the intensity and fun from Sunday's game- featuring some of the football, wrestling, swimming and baseball athletes- who all love a good game of basketball!

Thank you to all of the Wabash College Newman Center Tractarians for volunteering their time and sharing their deep love of the Catholic faith with our youth at St. Bernard.

On Sunday we had three of our high school teens, Aries Perry, Jaimee Simpson and Sabella Moore assist in the PreK-K room for Religious Education. It was an emotional experience to watch them sharing their love of God- a big circle, as they were all once learning in a Kindergarten room as the students!

This year we also have Paige Yarger, Bailey Grote, Guadalupe Amigon, and Sophie Roach, as well as two of of our Confirmation Students, Maria Liquez Valles and Colten Custer, volunteering their time in Religious Education on Sundays.

Children's Liturgy of the Word regularly has Kendra McClamroch, Collin and Jaimee Simpson and Paige Yarger assisting- and this week we welcomed Sabella Moore and Aries Perry! Which is such a blessing with how the Children's Liturgy group is growing!

The teens at St. Bernard are stepping up all over the parish and in their community, as evangelizing disciples for Jesus. We are so excited to see how awesome they are at sharing their Faith and living the teachings of the Church out in their daily lives!

We had so much fun on Tuesday night for the Magbee's Youth Group meeting in April. It was also a wonderful opportunity for two of our newest families at St. Bernard to come out to get to know other families at the parish! We learned about the Mass and what is happening from start to finish, played basketball, enjoyed some pizza and snacks, and finished the night making some springtime bugs to take home. There were so many smiling faces it was impossible not to feel the joy and the nostaglia for summertime! Can you believe we are moving into the final month of the school year already? And you know what THAT means.......

Vacation Bible School is coming again in July! We are already looking forward to another AMAZING time with all of the Magnanimous Believers (aka "Magbees") and the crew of volunteers who make it possible! Stay tuned for more information about when registration opens!

See you all this weekend!

We had our final night of Formation at our Wabash College Newman Center tonight and we are deeply grateful to have had the blessing of two inspiring guest speakers- Fr. Derek Aaron, the Diocese of Lafayette in Indiana Director of Vocations, and Deacon Jacob Miller, a Wabash alum who will be ordained this June by Bishop Timothy Doherty. The attendance was packed as the men took a break from studying for finals to come out to hear the impactful words both men had to share with our Newman Center Tractarians and Club Members.

Our Newman Center Ministry at St. Bernard is so important for the Catholic students at Wabash to stay close to Christ, and to have a parish to attend during their college school year, with the spiritual support provided by Father Bower for those discerning their vocation in college.

Thank you to all of our parishioners, the students and their family and friends, the Wabash alum and Wabash College- for supporting our evangelization efforts in our community and at St. Bernard.

Just a reminder that Sunday, May 3rd, 2026 will be the final Mass at Wabash Pioneer Chapel until August.

Our First Communion retreat was last Saturday and we had a wonderful time with the parents and the First Communicants! This year we had story time, music, First Communion Bingo, banner making, a special snack mix made by the families, and ended with a talk with Father Bower and a final prayer in the church. This class has been well-prepared and they are so excited to receive their sacrament! Please keep them all in your prayers!

Thank you to all of our volunteers who came out to help make this day a joyful time for our class: Mark Washer, Jane Leibenguth, Jennie Hesler, Alicia and Jerry Snearly, Jesselle, John, Charles and Elles Powell! We appreciate your dedication!

And we are so grateful to the parents who spent their Saturday morning at St. Bernard in fellowship and prayer with their children! We love how so many people are working together for religious education at St. Bernard!

Our peaceful and beautiful cemetery is in full bloom for Spring...The trees are stunning with blossoms. The rainy days bring so much green and shades of color to the world- so seeing as today is one of those mornings, we wanted to start your Saturday by sharing something to remind you of the promise of God and how the rain will bring us all the gifts of nature and the wonders that He blessed our lives with. Once the clouds clear- the sunshine will return and who knows...we might be blessed with a rainbow, too!

Take a drive by Calvary Cemetery and offer a prayer for the Souls in Purgatory- and take a deep breath and enjoy the serenity offered there to our visitors.

Thank you to our incredibly dedicated Cemetery team who take such wonderful care of our cemetery. We are so grateful to all of you for the time and dedication you give to keeping it a place of peace and beauty!
