First Congregational United Church of Christ is an inclusive spiritual community committed to Christian worship and practice while working toward meaningful social justice-based-change work in the world. We hope you come visit us in person, too, at 4515 SW West Hills Road. We worship every Sunday in our beautifully renovated sanctuary space at 10:30 a.m. To make in-person worship safer for small children and vulnerable adults, we still require everyone to wear a surgical face mask and to show proof of vaccination at the door. You will find First Congregational UCC warm, welcoming, and on a journey. We are real people who care about bringing goodness into the world, in the context of Christianity. It isn’t so much what you believe that matters—we don’t like dogma either. We care about community and relationships, and think faith offers something unique and valuable to our culture. Whoever you are and however you identify yourself, you are welcome here. We strive to stay aligned with the love and movement of God in the world, while creating a safe place for our faith to flourish.

"The Peace of Wild Things"

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

This year, the ecumenical Labor Day service in the park has a new location and a slight change in programming.

Join us at 10 a.m. this Sunday, Sept. 6 at the Peffer Amphitheater in Bruce Starker Arts Park. The park is located in southwest Corvallis, off of Country Club Drive and SW 45th Street. The address is 4485 SW Country Club Drive.

The "preaching" will be done by Stone Soup's new executive director, John Frederick, and the offering raised that day will support the building of Stone Soup's commercial kitchen in their new location downtown.

In lieu of coffee and cookies, you are invited to bring your own picnic lunch and spend time in the park following the service.

Pulling one on is an easy way to carry a little bit of First Congo with you — to the grocery store, the soccer sidelines, the coffee shop, wherever your week takes you.
