What does the Resurrection of Jesus me to you and I?
What a wonderful day this is for those who believe in Jesus. We honor and celebrate that He died for our sins on the cross and then rose from the dead on the third day. We declare today as the angel told Mary in Matthew 28:5-6- But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. He truly fulfilled His words that He said in John 11:25-26-25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
So, give this truth, what should the Resurrection mean to you and I today, and in fact everyday as a believer? We can start with knowing that we do not need to fear death, for in Him being the Resurrection and being resurrected, death with will not be our finality, but that we will also be raised to life again after our death according to the scriptures, as in John 6:40- And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” Romans 8:11- But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. 1 Corinthians 6:14- And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power.
Lastly, the Resurrection signifies that through Jesus being raised from the dead, that He has given us that believe in Him a new life in the present according to Romans 6:3-4- Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
So, Jesus’ resurrection is not just for our future and the guarantee of the afterlife, but that we have been given a new life, a resurrected life right now! If this truly means something to us, then we must embrace it and learn how to walk in the new life we have been given by His resurrection. His resurrection demands that fulfill 1 John 2:6-“He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.”
Nevertheless, regardless of what I have written here, ask yourself, What does the resurrection of Jesus mean to you?
