Online March 9 (orientation) & March 16, 23, 30; April 13. The popular annual diocesan-wide Journey to Confirmation course prepares people for confirmation or reception in the Episcopal Church, or reaffirmation of their baptismal vows. This four-week plunge into our Episcopal beliefs, traditions, and practices is a time that combines faith-deepening personal prayer, study, and reflection with rich conversations and sharing with participants from across the diocese, preparing each participant for the next steps in their journey of faith. All are welcome. It is especially appropriate for congregations with a small number of candidates or without the capacity to offer a confirmation preparation course on their own.

On this final Sunday after the Epiphany, we remember the God who revealed the glory of his only begotten Son on the holy mountain. We pray that, beholding by faith the light of Christ’s countenance, we may be strengthened to bear our cross and be transformed into his likeness, from glory to glory. As the disciples glimpsed the radiance of Jesus and heard the Father’s voice, we too listen to him, trusting that he will guide and sustain us on the way.

Come join us this Sunday!

We pray to the God who governs all things in heaven and on earth, asking that in our own time he may mercifully grant us his peace. In the blessings of Jesus, we are shown what his peace looks like: justice, kindness, humility, and lives shaped by the wisdom of the cross.

We rejoice in the God whose Son, our Savior Jesus Christ, is the light of the world. Illumined by God’s Word and Sacraments, we pray that our lives may shine with the radiance of Christ. Like the first disciples who heard Jesus say, “Come and see,” we follow the Lamb of God, bearing his light wherever we go.

On this day we praise the God who wonderfully created and yet more wonderfully restored the dignity of human nature. In Christ, God shares our humanity so that we may share the divine life. Redeemed and renewed, we walk as children of grace, bearing the image of the One who makes all things new.

Dear Members and Friends of St. Barnabas,

It with great enthusiasm we are pleased to announce that Bishop Kym, after unanimous approval by our Search Committee and Vestry, has called the Reverend Mark E. Chambers to become our new rector!

Mark comes to us from churches in Ouray, CO, Port Neches, Texas, and Austin, Texas. He has a Master’s in Divinity degree from Virginia Theological Seminary Alexandria, VA, and 30+ years working in information technology before joining the priesthood.

Mark will be moving to Cortez with his wife Ella, who is a high school math teacher.
Mark and Ella are High School sweethearts and have been married for 34 years. They have two adult children, Calvin (29), who lives and works in Ridgway, Co and Emily (26) lives in Denton TX and is working on her PhD Degree.

The start date for Mark will be January 1st 2026. Mark and Ella are looking for housing in Cortez as they look forward to being fully present and engaged in our community.

Please continue to pray for their transition to go smoothly as we welcome them to Cortez, and the St Barnabas Family!

Sincerely,

The Wardens and Vestry of St. Barnabas.
