Good morning Holy Cross family,
We have so much to be thankful for! Let’s come together and celebrate at our Annual Congregational Thanksgiving Dinner, coming up in a couple weeks — Saturday, November 15 (see flyer for details).
It takes many hands to make this special meal possible. A "Volunteer" sign-up sheet will be posted on the parish hall bulletin board.
There is also a separate "Attendance" sign-up sheet. All are welcome, we just ask you to sign up as soon as possible (or notify the church office) to help us plan accordingly.
We appreciate your help and look forward to sharing this joyful meal together

❤️ Join Us for Reformation Sunday! ❤️
This coming Sunday, October 25, our altar cloths will change from green to red as we celebrate Reformation Sunday!
Reformation Sunday commemorates the day Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany, on October 31, 1517, the eve of All Saints’ Day. His actions sparked the Reformation and renewed the church’s focus on Grace, Faith, Christ, Scripture, and the Glory of God.
We give thanks for the work of the Holy Spirit, who continues to move in and through the church today!
⛪ Join us at 9:30 AM for a special Reformation Sunday worship service.
❤️ Feel free to wear red as we celebrate this special day in the life of the church!

Good read!

"For many, evangelicalism seemed to have it all. But all I felt was empty," writes the Rev. Matt Doebler, who was an American evangelical as a young man and is now an LCMS pastor.

"There are many evangelicals who feel the same way. Many of them are young. And many of them seem to be showing up with increasing frequency in LCMS congregations. In fact, anecdotal evidence suggests that the more traditional your congregation, the more likely these discontented evangelicals will one day show up in your church’s narthex. I know, because many of them have lately been showing up in my church’s narthex.

"Upon greeting them, you may be tempted to apologize that the coffee is not Starbucks caliber, or that the restrooms haven’t been remodeled since the 1950s, or that the fellowship hall looks a little like a swap meet. Don’t. They probably suspected all those things were true before they pulled into the parking lot.

"They are showing up at your congregation because they want something more. They want certainty and clarity about what the Scriptures teach. They want a clean conscience that isn’t grounded upon internal feelings or personal obedience. They want rest from the pressure of trying to find God’s big plan and purpose."

The Women of Holy Cross (WoHC) celebrated LWML Sunday on October 4 with a special gathering following worship. Our goals were to get to know one another better, learn more about WOHC and the LWML, and enjoy fellowship together. We were blessed with 31 ladies in attendance, most of whom were dressed in purple!
Our theme came from the 2026 CHN District Convention, which Cherylene Brueckner attended as our Delegate and Kaytlyn Coyne attended as a Young Woman Representative (YWR). During our gathering, both Cherylene and Kaytlyn shared presentations about their convention experiences, giving us a wonderful glimpse into what takes place at a convention and the joy that comes from attending. They also explained and reminded us about the “Mighty Mites” offerings that we collect on the first Sunday of each month.
Jan Walker opened our gathering by sharing “My Passport Message,” which she wrote, and later in the program, Sharon Nelson shared “A Spiritual Conversation Without Words,” also written by her. Both messages were very encouraging and reminded us of the importance of our faith and of sharing that faith with others.
Between the various presentations, we all stood to stretch our legs and sang “Serve the Lord with Gladness,” accompanied by Kaytlyn on the flute. It was a joyful reminder of why we gather and serve together.
We ended our time with a closing prayer, lunch, and many wonderful conversations around each table. It was a special time of fellowship, learning, encouragement, and laughter.
Praise be to God for the Women of Holy Cross and the work of LWML 🙏🏼❤️✝️!

⭐️ We celebrated Pastor Appreciation Day during Coffee Fellowship ⭐️

We took a moment to express thanks to Pastor Gross for his graciousness in leading worship services, Bible studies, and tending to those in need of pastoral care during this time of vacancy at Holy Cross. We truly appreciate you Pastor Gross! ✝️

To all Pastors who have/are serving at Holy Cross:

Thank you for faithfully shepherding our church and pointing us to Christ each week. Your words inspire, your prayers strengthen, and your example encourages us to walk more closely with God. We are so grateful for your ministry and for the heart of love you bring to everything you do.

Today is Pastor Appreciation Day. We thank God for the men He has called to be pastors. Join us in praying for all of the pastors who preach and teach in our churches and for the men at CTSFW who are studying to serve the church as pastors in the future.
