Bethel International UMC

Bethel International UMC Bethel International United Methodist Church is a diverse Christian community in northwest Columbus. As the community grew, so did the congregation.

We are committed to serving our neighbors and living out Godโ€™s vision for a more just, loving and inclusive world. Bethel International United Methodist Church is a long lived congregation in a growing community in which many new families are finding a wonderful place to worship. The congregation was established in 1842 and subsequently built on a site east of the present building. (The Refectory

Restaurant & Bistro currently occupies our original church building). Our current membership numbers over 720, with annual operating budget of $307,000. The present worship setting was built and dedicated in 1971. It includes a beautiful oak sanctuary surrounded by stained glass windows, administrative offices, lounge, choir room, and classrooms. In 1980 classrooms, kitchen and fellowship hall were added. As our congregation grows, so do we. In 1995, we completed a major expansion to the fellowship and educational area; a Family Life Center that seats 660, provides a theatrical setting and recreational facility, a youth room area, and many more classrooms. This type of growth proves to us that God's Word is important and that it is our desire to spread the Word to everyone. While some of our members have lived in the area for many years, as the community has developed, we have welcomed friends from all over the country into our church family. A cordial invitation is extended to you to worship, study, and play with us at Bethel.

A Call to Prayer for Nepal and Tibet
From Bishop Hee-Soo Jung

Our hearts are with the people of Nepal and Tibet following the catastrophic flash floods that struck the Himalayan border region on August 26. Numerous lives have been lost, many residents and travelers remain missing and entire communities have suffered the loss of homes, livelihoods and vital infrastructure.

I invite all churches across the Ohio Episcopal Area to pray for those who grieve, those awaiting news of their loved ones and all who have been displaced. May God strengthen rescue workers and relief partners, protect vulnerable communities from further danger and provide the resources needed for recovery and rebuilding.

As one body in Christ, let us accompany the people of Nepal and Tibet with prayer, compassion and generous solidarity. Churches and individuals wishing to support relief and recovery efforts are encouraged to give through United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) online here: https://tinyurl.com/ye7n48pw

May this tragedy also renew our commitment to care for Godโ€™s creation, pursue climate justice and stand with communities most vulnerable to environmental disasters.

Lord, have mercy. Bring comfort, protection, healing, and hope.

We need to talk about S***m and Gomorrah. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Stay with us.

This Sunday, Pastor Glenn is tackling one of the most misunderstood stories in all of Scripture โ€” and he's asking you to hear it with fresh ears. This story is not about what you've been told it's about. But it is still difficult. It's about tragedy. It's about loss. It's about how we come to terms with the hardest moments of our lives.

It's a story we all need to sit with.

Watch the preview, and we'll do it together Sunday. ๐Ÿ’œ

This is our prayer for you this week. Save it. Share it. Mean it. ๐Ÿ’œ

Laughter is holy. ๐Ÿ˜„โœจ

This Sunday, Pastor Glenn is preaching on one of the most human moments in all of Scripture โ€” the moment God tells 100-year-old Abraham and his barren wife Sarah they're going to have a baby. And Sarah laughs. Is it a laugh of doubt? A laugh of delight? Maybe both. Watch the preview. Then come laugh with your people Sundayโ€” because where there's laughter, there's hope.

See you Sunday. ๐Ÿ’œ
