The Harvey S. Firestone Recreational Park and Columbiana Cemetery

This weekend, we had the opportunity to celebrate the ribbon cutting for the Stick Chapel in the Columbiana Cemetery. The “Fix the Sticks” project was spear headed by the historical society and had contributions from MANY community members, businesses, and organizations.

It was a project that salvaged and restored a piece of Columbiana history, while helping us expand our cemetery services for the future.

Congratulations to all involved and a big THANK YOU to everyone who donated their time and money to help propel this project to the finish line! 🏁 💒 ☀️

Don’t forget…Today begins our time changes for Firestone Pool.

Sadly, we need to start planning for the end of summer.😢 😞

Firestone Pool will be moving to our adjusted schedule beginning August 17th. (We do this every year because we begin to lose staff going back to school and staff participation in extracurricular activities)

Concession Stand will be open

All the pieces are falling into place 🧩

We want to give a big “THANK YOU” 😊 to the Columbiana Community Foundation for their contribution to this project. With their help, we were able to check off a couple more items at the cemetery’s columbariums and scatter gardens.

Landscaping in the fall and spring will be the final step for this project. 🌺 🌳 🌼

Firestone Pool will be closed the remainder of the day due to weather and lack of patrons. We will try it again tomorrow 🤞

Just a couple things…

1. We are in the process of replacing the small bridges on the recreational path near the dog park. Replacing the bridges does limit accessibility in those areas. Please plan accordingly. 🚶‍♀️ 🐕 🚲

2. Hole #6 of the disc golf course is temporarily closed. Once grading and drainage work is complete for the new playground we will get that basket reinstalled. 🌳 ⛳️

3. Construction has begun on Phase II of the park improvements for drainage and accessibility. This project will convert park ditches to the brick drainage that surrounds the gazebo section in the park. It will also provide more sidewalks that will create a safer recreational space. During construction you can expect occasional detours or lane closures. The parks facilities will always be accessible and renters will always have their rentals honored. 🚧 🦺 🛻 🛑
