Meet Timothy Mars, a senior at Concordia University, Nebraska (CUNE), studying to be a director of parish music.

“Who influenced me to be a church worker? Definitely my dad, as he is a pastor. I’m a lifelong LCMS Lutheran, and my dad taught me the importance of being a Christian, going to church and spreading the Good News to anyone I can.”

Timothy said his call into church music was emphasized at a camp service: “I was inspired to go into church music when I heard a phenomenal organist, Kantor Steven Hoffman, playing at a camp. When listening to him, I remember thinking for the first time: ‘I want to do that.’”

Growing up in a small town with a pastor‑dad, a strong musical home and a nearby piano teacher, church and music quickly became “two of the biggest priorities” in his life. As he watched his older brother study church music at CUNE, Timothy could see the path in front of him and knew this was where he wanted to be.

Now, through choir, organ, piano and other ensembles, Timothy is preparing to serve as a director of parish music—helping God’s people sing their faith week after week.

Join us in praying for Timothy and all those preparing to serve Him. Leave a comment below to share a word of encouragement for future church workers.

Scripture: John 8:12
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness.”

As days grow longer and light returns, we are reminded how much we need it. Light shows us the way, brings clarity, and drives out fear.

Jesus is that light for us. He leads us not only in the big decisions, but in the quiet, ordinary moments of daily life. As you follow Him, step by step, His light guides your path and gives peace along the way.

Tomorrow’s Gospel is from John 16:16–22, where Jesus tells His disciples that their sorrow will turn into joy. Though they will soon weep at His suffering and death, that sorrow will not last. A deeper, lasting joy is coming—one that no one can take away.

Like the disciples, we know seasons of confusion, waiting, and grief. Yet Christ’s words remind us that these are not the end of the story. Through His death and resurrection, He has already secured a joy that stands firm, even in the midst of sorrow.

This is our hope: Christ Jesus, the Hope of Glory. In Him, our present troubles are not meaningless—they are held within the promise that joy is coming and will endure.

Lord Jesus, when we face sorrow and uncertainty, keep us anchored in Your promise of lasting joy. Amen.

1 Peter 1:3
“He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”

Hope in this world can feel fragile—dependent on circumstances that quickly change. But the hope we have in Christ is alive. It is rooted in His resurrection, not in our situation.

Whether the days feel bright or uncertain, this hope remains steady. Christ lives. And because He lives, your future is secure. Let that living hope shape how you face today—with confidence, peace, and trust.

2 Corinthians 5:17
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.”

Spring reminds us that what looks dead is not always gone. Beneath the soil, new life is already at work. In the same way, Christ’s resurrection brings new life to us—even when we don’t always feel it.

In Him, you are a new creation. Not someday, but now. Forgiven, restored, and made new. Each day is an invitation to live in that reality—to walk in hope, to love your neighbor, and to trust that Christ is still at work in you.
