Larry Alan Osborn Obituary
Larry Osborn, 75, of Fort Gratiot, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on August 1, 2026 with his family at his side.
Larry was born on December 20, 1950, in Port Huron, Michigan, to the late Lewis and Olive Osborn. On December 30, 1970, he married the love of his life, Nancy Heath, at First United Methodist Church in Port Huron. They shared 48 wonderful years of marriage before Nancy's passing on February 25, 2019.
Larry proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. He dedicated his career to serving his community, working as a mechanic for the City of Port Huron Police Department while also serving with the Fort Gratiot Fire Department for more than 42 years. During his remarkable career, he responded to 19,628 emergency calls and retired with the rank of Assistant Fire Chief. His dedication, courage, and commitment to protecting others left a lasting impact on the community he faithfully served.
Outside of his career, Larry enjoyed restoring and operating antique tractors and engines and was an active member of the Black River Area Antique Power Club. He also loved watching stock car racing and was a faithful member of North Street United Methodist Church. Larry was known for his quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and ability to make others smile. Above all, he treasured time with his family and especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's events and activities. He was their biggest fan and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer them on.
Larry is survived by his loving children, Carolyn (Marty) Kaidan and Steve (Lindsay) Osborn; his cherished grandchildren, Joe Kaidan, Tim Kaidan, Matt Kaidan, Olivia Kaidan, Kelsey Osborn, and Christopher Osborn; his brother, Greg (Cathy) Osborn; his sister, Ann (Marc) Poirier; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Karen (Larry) Sanders, Susan Heath, Tom (Jan) Heath, and Dan (Pam) Heath; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Nancy, Larry was preceded in death by Nancy's parents, George and Norma Heath, sister-in-law, Janet Osborn; sister-in-law, Janice Ballard; and brother-in-law, David Ballard.
The family honors the memory of Larry and invites you to visit and share memories on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Grace Memorial - Smith Chapel 1525 Hancock Street, Port Huron, MI 48060 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at First United Methodist Church 828 Lapeer Avenue Port Huron, MI 48060 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at the church at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery - Fort Gratiot.
