This Sunday we celebrate Reformation Day. But do we really understand what it means to be able to live in a time when the Reformation has already happened? That we may enjoy the fruits of the reformer Martin Luther, who dared to stand up against the anti-Christian tyranny of the Roman Church on the basis of the revealed Word of God and to proclaim with prophetic authority the liberating truths of the Gospel. We cannot be grateful enough for this because we can now be certain of our salvation in Jesus Christ which was given to us through the means of grace of baptism and faith - with conviction and backed by the truths of Holy Scripture.

When Mephibosheth was called to meet King David, he was terrified and full of stress (2 Samuel 9:7). He expected to be punished because he belonged to the old king's family. Instead, David filled his life with kindness and peace.

Today, after our lesson on Mephibosheth, we gave the children balloons to blow up and deflate. They were flat, empty, and stressed—just like Mephibosheth felt.

Then we filled the balloons with flour, just as God fills our empty, worried hearts with His peace and promises when we trust Him. When we squeeze the stress ball, it reminds us to cast our worries on Him because He cares for us.

Note to parents: We added a second balloon to make these stress balls extra durable. But if you have pets, do not let them chew on the stress balls, or you’ll have a mess on your hands.

On Oct 3rd four members of our LWML went to Chattanooga for the LWML Fall Event. The guest speaker was from the Domestic Violence Center. She spoke on the statistics of domestic violence and how their organization helps victims get out of violent situations. We made 10 boxes filled with items necessary to make a new start for the victims. It was a good day✝️
