The Official page of the Church of God with International Offices in Cleveland, Tennessee. The Church of God is an Evangelical, Pentecostal movement representing over seven million members in 183 countries of the world. The Church of God began in 1886 and it has grown to become one of the largest in the world, with worldwide membership over 7 million in 183 countries. The movement’s origins began with a small meeting of Christians at Barney Creek Meeting House on the Tennessee/North Carolina border, making it the oldest Pentecostal denomination in the United States. The Church of God existed as a countercultural movement in its beginning and continues to be a force for higher education with sponsored institutions including Lee University and Pentecostal Theological Seminary and more than 100 Bible and training schools around the world. The theological teachings of the Church of God have not changed significantly since its foundation. The movement continues to be an influence both locally and around the globe. Its heritage comes from the strength of generations who have felt tremendous life-change inside a local Church of God. We believe the Pentecostal expression embraces the good, true, and beautiful found within the Christian faith.
