🎉 Happy Birthday, Father Jim! 🎉

How do you describe Father Jim? 🤔

Witty. Hyper. Energized. Holy. A questioner. A contrarian. A golfer. A casserole lover. A baptizer. A playful teaser. A doctor twice over and working on #3! 📚 And somehow, in the middle of all that, he’s also our Priest-in-Charge. ⛳️✝️

He works hard, cares deeply, is ready and willing to jump in and help, and somehow manages to keep us laughing along the way. He has a mind that never stops asking questions, a heart that never stops caring, and just enough contrarian spirit to keep the rest of us on our toes!

Father Jim, we are grateful for your energy, your faith, your hard work, your humor, and most of all, the way you care for the people of St. James.

We hope your birthday is filled with good golf, great food, lots of laughter, a brownie (with walnuts, naturally!), and maybe just a little time to relax!

St. James often provides physical nourishment along with spiritual nourishment. Breaking (corn)bread together reinforces our sense of community and joyful fellowship.
We are blessed to have some fine cooks in our kitchen, including Steve and Janet Sweimler, who are dishing up a delicious Southern breakfast in Parish Hall between our Sunday services.
Stay after our 8:00 AM worship or come early for our 10:30 AM service to enjoy chicken and wafffles, buttermilk biscuits, scrambled eggs and fruit -- and the inevitable good vibrations that result when we gather together at the table. 🍽️☺️⛪

Thank you to the Reverend Susan Thisell for serving today.

Reverend Susan's sermon reminded us of a turning point in Jesus’ ministry as he prepared his disciples for the cross. Even Peter struggled to understand, reminding us that sometimes we need to hear God’s message again and again.

The cross is a powerful symbol of God’s love for us and Jesus calls us to live that love out in our own lives. Let our love be genuine. Help those who need help. Walk with one another through difficult times. Be willing to sacrifice for others.

When we commit to following Jesus, we are called to love, serve, and support one another as a community of faith. And through that commitment, we discover just how many blessings are ours.

The bottom line is to Love as God loves us, and put that love into action. ❤️

What a joyful and powerful Sunday we had at St. James! We were blessed to welcome the Right Reverend Robert Wright, Bishop of the Diocese of Atlanta, who joined us for a morning of fellowship, worship, and renewal. During a casual forum hour before the service, Bishop Wright answered questions and shared his wisdom with our parish family, sometimes with humor. During the service, he welcomed home 21 parishioners who were received into the Episcopal Church, and we celebrated three confirmations. Prayers and the laying on of hands were offered to all who asked, and together we renewed our baptismal vows. The day continued with a very successful silent auction fundraiser supporting Our Little Roses, a ministry that has been close to the heart of St. James for more than 30 years. What a beautiful day of faith, community, and celebration! We are so grateful for everyone who helped make it so special. ❤️

In Sunday’s sermon, Bishop Wright reminded us that faith is more than the good things we do. It is about what is happening in our hearts. It’s easy to look like we have it all together, even in church but our hearts may be far from God. We don’t have to be perfect. We are all works in progress, growing in faith and becoming more like Christ. This week, let’s pause and take a heart check. Is my heart aligned with God’s heart? What needs to change? May we look to Christ, allow Him to strengthen us, and let Him transform our hearts. ❤️
