Tonight is the 45th night of Counting the Omer after sunset, which is the beginning of the 1sh of Sivan on the Jewish calendar.
• The Command: Leviticus 23:15-16 commands counting 50 days (49 days + 1) from the day after Passover Sabbath (Joshua 5:10-12) to Shavuot.
• Resurrection to Ascension: Yeshua rose during the Counting of the Omer period, and for 40 days, appeared to his disciples, teaching the Law (Torah), Prophets, and Psalms—the Tanakh—that pointed to his resurrection and mission.
• Connecting Passover to Shavuot: Just as Israel left Egypt (Passover) to receive the Torah (Shavuot), Yeshua’s disciples left bo***ge to sin (Passover) and received the indwelling Spirit (Shavuot). Shavuot is the anniversary of the giving of the Torah and also to the receiving of the indwelling Spirit.
The Hebrew word for count means to enumerate and could also mean to recount the stories.
First say:
Baruch atah ADONAI Eloheinu melech ha-olam asher kid'shanu b'mitzvotav vitzivanu al s'firat ha-omer.
Blessed are You, ADONAI our God, Ruler of the universe, who sanctifies us with mitzvot, and commands us concerning the counting of the Omer.
