Tonight’s lesson and theme was “Made on Purpose.” We recently celebrated several birthdays in April and May, and used this time to reflect on something deeper than celebration.
We talked about birthdays, purpose, and our birthright. Birthdays are more than cake and gifts, they remind us that God created each of us intentionally and for a purpose.
Psalm 139:14 — “I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
Jeremiah 29:11 — “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord… plans to give you hope and a future.
Nobody is an accident. God chose our time, place, personality, gifts, and purpose. Even when we feel overlooked, we are still valuable to Him.
A wrapped gift has value before it’s opened. In the same way, God placed gifts and purpose inside each of us.
We also talked about the gifts God has given us and made Birthday Bags of Encouragement, where everyone wrote kind words for each other to keep for encouragement on hard days.
Sometimes others can see gifts in us before we see them ourselves.
We ended with a fun game of Pin the Tail on the Donkey as a reminder that when we try to lead our own way, things can feel off but when we follow God’s voice, He guides us with purpose.
(Some of the kids snuck our phones and took pictures lol)
