Northwest Baptist Church The fruits of the work of these faithful men resulted in the organization of North Upper Bridge Church in 1782.

The Brief History of Our Historical Church
Founded In 1782

A few years preceding the organization of the church, a number of Baptist ministers traveling from Shilo, North Carolina to Pungo, Virginia stopped and preached to the people holding their meetings in private houses. It first appears in the minutes of the Portsmouth Baptist Association as the North Upper Bridge and later as the North West

Upper Bridge Church, which is the name it bore until 1820, when it assumed its present name, Northwest Baptist Church. Several members went on to start new churches: Pleasant Grove Baptist, Bethel Baptist and Lake Drummond Baptist.

✨❄️❄️IMPORTANT PLEASE READ❄️❄️✨

As it continues to snow in our area combined with the snow covered roads, the wind chill dropping the temperatures to near zero along with high threat of winds above 20mph the decision has been made for everyones safety to cancel all services tomorrow, Sunday 2/1/2026. Please stay home, stay warm, and safe.

Please help pass the word to anyone that may not be on Facebook!

If you would like to make any non-perishable food donations to help those in need during this difficult time or for Thanksgiving please feel free to drop them in the blessing box at the front of the church parking lot. If you prefer to drop them off in person or have perishable foods such as eggs, turkey, ham, etc for Thanksgivg baskets you can send us a private message or email to arrange a time to meet you.

If you are in need of assistance please know the blessing box is out front and is anonymous so you can take what you need to help you and your family. If you are in need of assistance for a Thanksgiving meal please reach out via Facebook messenger or email at [email protected] and we can put you in contact with our Deacon or Pastor. We are here to help those in need, do not hesitate to contact us!

You are welcome and invited to join us for Sunday School starting at 10:00am, regular service at 11:00am or Bible Study at 6:00pm every Sunday. God Bless!
