Doctrine consists of teachings, explanations, and inferences drawn from dogma. While important for understanding the faith, doctrine does not have the same universal binding power as matters necessary for salvation and faith.

Dogma refers to the specific, concrete statements, creeds, and articulations that must be believed as a matter of necessity to be Christian and part of the Church.

These are matters "de fide" which means, matters of the faith itself.
