This image isn't actually about me, it was generated from content I've used in teaching about Community of ChristCommunity of Christ's theological and historical journey.

Honestly, though, it's surprisingly on target for who we are as a faith community—Jesus-centered, community-focused, committed to peace, belonging, and the worth of all persons.

Also, can we talk about the church seal? 😂 The AI apparently decided a lamb's head on a lion's body with Christ's halo was the way to go. It's completely wrong and somehow wonderfully right at the same time. (Check out the comments for more on that crazy 'church seal'.)

We’re trying to make sure a wonderful Community of Christ youth camp can still happen this summer, and I’m reaching out to my Arizona friends for help.

Do I know anyone who is an EMT, nurse, doctor, paramedic, or other medical professional who might be willing to spend June 14–17 up in the beautiful Prescott mountains helping provide medical coverage for a children’s/youth camp?

This is not expected to be an intense or difficult assignment — mostly just being present on-site so camp can safely operate--and managing meds for multiple kids. It could actually be a relaxing few days away from the Phoenix heat, surrounded by nature, good people, and a meaningful experience for the kids attending: canoeing, archery, a lot of fun and spiritual connection in community.

If this might be something you’d consider, or if you know someone trustworthy who may be interested, please send me a private message so we can talk details and church registration requirements.

I asked ChatGPT to recreate a moment in my life...

At 11:00 in the morning, May 18, 1980, Mt. St. Helens's ash cloud arrived at Richland, WA. This is about how it looked at at the Community of Christ (then RLDS) church on the corner of Swift & Long.

A random but highly interesting fact about this building, it was largely built from materials scavenged from the nearby Manhattan Project Hanford site. A church of peace, built from the discards of a project for destruction.

There’s something I deeply love about the journey of Community of Christ.

Fifty years ago, we were often a very rules-based church—clear lines, clear expectations, and sometimes a lot of “don’t do this, don’t do that.”

But over time, something shifted.

Through prayer, study, and lived experience, we began rediscovering something that had actually been there all along—Enduring Principles.

Things like:
✨ The worth of all persons
✨ Grace and generosity
✨ Sacredness of creation
✨ Responsible choices
✨ Pursuit of peace

Instead of trying to fit life into rigid black-and-white boxes, we started asking deeper questions:
👉 What does love look like here?
👉 What does compassion require in this moment?
👉 How do we honor the dignity of each person’s story?

Because life isn’t simple. People aren’t simple.

And faith, at its best, makes room for complexity, growth, and grace.

For me, that’s what makes Community of Christ so meaningful today.
Not a place with all the easy answers—but a community committed to living the questions… together.
