This Labor Day, we pause to give thanks for the dedicated hands and hardworking hearts that keep our community moving forward every single day. 🛠️🌾

From healthcare workers, teachers, and first responders to skilled tradespeople, service workers, and local business owners—thank you for your dedication, service, and sacrifice. Our neighborhood is stronger, safer, and vibrant because of the care and effort you pour into your work.

Above all, we give glory and thanks to God, who provides for our needs, grants us the strength to work, and calls us to find rest in Him. As Scripture reminds us, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters" (Colossians 3:23).

As we spend time relaxing with family and friends this weekend, let’s hold space for both gratitude for our daily bread and appreciation for one another.

As summer winds down and the long holiday weekend arrives, there are so many great ways to relax, connect, and celebrate right here in our community! ☀️🍔

Whether you’re looking to get out and about or keep things low-key at home, here are a few ideas to make the most of your Labor Day weekend:

Get Out in the Community 🍦

Annual Champaign Labor Day Parade & Picnic: Head downtown on Monday morning (11 AM) for the parade, followed by food, music, and family fun at the Neil Street Plaza.

Explore Local Parks & Trails: Take a stroll or bike ride through Meadowbrook Park in Urbana or Lake of the Woods in Mahomet to soak up the early fall colors.

Support Local Markets: Hit up the Saturday Urbana Market at the Square for fresh produce, flowers, and local goods for your weekend meals.

Relax at Home & Host a Cookout 🌭

Fire up the grill! Fire up a backyard BBQ, throw on some burgers or local sweet corn, and invite a neighbor, friend, or coworker over to share a meal and catch up.

Unwind with a backyard lawn game afternoon, or set up an outdoor movie night under the stars once the sun sets.

🙌 Sunday Morning Worship at Bridge Church!

What a powerful morning together! We gathered to worship, encouraged one another, and dove into God’s Word as we continued to grow in our walk with Jesus.

📖 Sermon: “The Way to Greatness”
Mark 9:30–50

Jesus turns our idea of greatness upside down. The world tells us to chase recognition, position, and influence—but Jesus points us toward humility, servanthood, and becoming more like Him.

💡 “Don’t focus on being great; focus on the One who is!”

That’s the heart of it. True greatness isn’t found in making much of ourselves—it’s found in making much of Jesus. ❤️

What a reminder to keep our eyes on Him, serve others well, and let our lives point people to the One who truly is great!

What an incredible time we had together at Church in the Park! The weather was beautiful, but even better was the sweet fellowship as our community gathered in God’s creation. Together, we lifted our voices in worship, sang praises, and dove deep into studying God's Word.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, brought a friend, or helped make the day so special. We are so grateful for our church family and the joy of praising Jesus side by side!
